An avalanche of apples that pelted road users in Coventry is just the latest in a series of bizarre examples of things falling from the sky.
Residents, officials and scientists were left baffled in June 2009 by an apparent downfall of dead tadpoles in central Japan's Ishikawa prefecture.
Clouds of the creatures appeared to have fallen from the sky in a series of episodes in a number of cities in the region.
One 55-year-old man who heard a strange sound in a car park in the city of Nanao found more than 100 dead tadpoles covering the windscreens of cars in a ten-square metre area.
About a year ago 5,000 dead blackbirds rained down from the night skies in the small town of Beebe, Arkansas.
The so-called "aflockalypse" on New Year's Eve saw dead and dying creatures crash down onto roofs, roads and gardens.

Turtle dove shower
More than 1,000 turtle doves plummeted to the ground near Ravenna in January this year.
Hundreds of the recovered corpses had a blue tinge to their beaks, indicating poisoning or hypoxia - lack of oxygen - which can leave animals confused.
One local newspaper wrote: "Let's hope it is poisoning or an illness because that would be easier to deal with than it being a sign the world is coming to an end."
Perch bombardment
In March last year, residents of a remote Australian town 326 miles from the nearest river witnessed two days of fish raining from the sky.
Many of the hundreds of spangled perch were still alive when they fell to the ground in Lajamanu, in the country's Northern Territory.
Weather experts believe the fish were sucked up in a thunderstorm before being dumped over the small town...

Back in 1970 Airmen looking for FOD items on a runway after a thunderstorm found dozens of Sand Sharks and salt water fish on the tarmac at Sheppard AFB, Texas.
Wierd. Could not imagine something strange like that happening in my backyard....
And more similar strange things in history...

God to weather angel: I said TWO Turtle Doves, not one thousand, TWO!
Somewhere Charles Fort is taking notes.
I do not know this from firsthand knowledge, but have been told that some years ago when a tornado swept through an area in northwest Pennsylvania, an International FARMALL 1086 farm tractor weighing several tons disappeared from a farm in the tornado’s path.....and a few days later it was discovered several miles away, sitting upright on its wheels in a swamp.
Obama blamed this on the Bush administration.
As I said there have been recordings of animals, birds, ice and other objects falling down out of the sky in various parts of the world down through history, the usual BS explanation is a thunder storm picked them up or a water spout or a tornado, usually without any proof that said tornado, water spout, or storm existed.
Since this has been going on for hundreds of years it hardly signifies the end of the world.
Where’s Charles Fort, when he’s needed?
Supposedly, according to the "official story", it was dark, and it was not the parking lot that looked like water, but the upper surface of the fog or low clouds above it that were lit from below by the parking lot's lights.
The grebes supposedly "landed", feet forward, tail down, wings flared or folded, on the cloud's surface, and understandably fell instead of floating.
"Just by chance", the cloud's surface was low enough that they couldn't pull out of the fall, and fly; but high enough that most were killed or critically injured by the impact; many were less critically injured or just stunned, and rescued.
