LIVINGSTON, Tenn. -- A first-year teacher from Overton County may lose his job after writing the word "stupid" across a students forehead with permanent marker, a district official told WSMV-TV in Nashville.
The math teacher has been suspended indefinitely, Matt Eldridge, director of the Overton County Schools, told the NBC television station.
"We're here to help the children and not to hurt them," Eldridge said, adding "One word can break a child. I mean, I've got three children. I wouldn't want it done to mine." The incident happened last week at Allons Elementary, where a student asked a question and the teacher responded by writing on the childs forehead in front of his classmates, Eldridge told the TV station. The teacher also wrote the word "stupid" backward on the student's forehead, so he'd be able to read it when he saw himself in the mirror, he said.

These lousy teachers are more deserving a hanging in the public square. Some of them can ruin a kid for a LONG time and they can’t, or think they can’t read, write, or in this case do math. The pattern of having a bad teacher in the schools (FOREVER the way the unions are) can ruin hundreds of kids. It is treason. (And it would probably only take a few public hangings.)
My kids have a gym teacher that was fired - but then rehired as they couldn’t find anyone else. He’s sixty-something and sounds like he just puts in his time and doesn’t care about the kids really doing anything. I figured he was harmless enough (its gym!). But I guess he also teaches the health class. My kids said in that class they heard he had the kids vote on who was “ugly” and who was “good looking” - maybe something to do with sex ed and genetics. Or maybe he’s just an old perv. Whatever - that’s just plain wrong.
“There are a lot of great teachers-——”
Thanks for the nice post and have a great weekend.
The problem is unions won’t let the schools fire the jackass’s and perverts...When you and I went to school. the stupid were weeded out. (at least when I went to school decades ago). I always said if I don’t stand up for my kids no one else will, so its a face to face with teacher child and me on more than one occasion...One time the counselor listened to me and the teacher involved, her and I settled the disagreement when I told her she was suppose to be the adult in the situation not a young child being the butt of her problems....after she left the counselor then bust out laughing and told me some inside info on the teacher. My child did well in her class the rest of the year....It was the one out of my 5 that she had problems with, he was the easy one of the 4 boys. She was darn lucky..
