Newton schools are asking parents to have their kids leave so-called "celebratory" clothing at home.

They’re talking about accessories or clothes given out at a birthday parties or other celebrations that kids then wear to class on Monday.

School officials say this is becoming a trend at Oak Hill and other Newton middle schools.

They say it leads to other kids feeling excluded and reminded they were not included in the festivities.

“They say it leads to other kids feeling excluded and reminded they were not included in the festivities.”

By all means let’s not teach kids how to deal with life.

By all means let’s not teach kids how to deal with life.

They're already not teaching math, sciences or social studies... when they're left behind in the real world, why should they be equipped to deal with rejection? That's what drugs, therapists and nanny-state government are for.

Pray for whatever passes for America these days.

Not everyone is invited.
So the others have their parties.
Not everyone is invited.
So some more people have parties.
Not everyone is invited.
Twas ever thus.

Guess what, school administrators: the little darlings are going to be excluded from MANY things during their lives. They won’t qualify for jobs they may want, they won’t always get what they want for christmas, they won’t always get the grades they THINK they deserve. This self-esteem crap is revolting!

Well, this line of ‘thinking’ just eliminated all sports teams, bands, beta clubs, cheerleading squads, glee clubs, etc., etc., and any other school organizations which have some standard of performance or achievement as prerequisites to ‘inclusion’.

Now how can we have sports teams when those who can’t make the starting lineups will feel ‘excluded’ and left out. And glee clubs that ‘exclude’ those who can’t sing a note?

And how can we have school principals and school boards when those who weren’t selected/elected for those positions will feel ‘excluded’ and left out?

Don’t forget to forbid the wearing of high school letter jackets, along with the various pins indicating achievement in sports, etc.

Yes, letter jackets would certainly be one of the most blatant examples of how most students are excluded and made to feel left out. And the larger the student body, the more students who are made to feel left out.

Elimination of all sports, clubs and other extra-curricular activities is the only solution. Except, of course, all those ethnic and group identify type clubs would still be encouraged, as long as they were politically correct.

This is new to me. Are kids throwing birthday and other parties at which they hand out apparel with their name on it as commemorative swag?

On many Monday mornings, students stream into the building, and other students begin to notice that they are not among a particular group. There is a group (or groups) of students who are wearing the same colorful article of clothing - a t-shirt, sweatshirt, sweatpants or leggings. Upon closer inspection, you can see the name of a student clearly labeled on the clothing honoring a celebration that took place over the weekend. While the students wearing the labeled clothing are all chatting excitedly about their weekend experiences, the students who aren't wearing the clothing tend to walk by, trying not to take notice while being reminded that they were not included in the festivities.

THIS is the problem? How pathetic.

They should all go to school naked on the basis that “we consider all clothing celebratory of man’s triumph over the ignorance of the animal kingdom.” ;^)

My kids all went to Newton schools and now some grandchildren do.

They’ll survive this ban.

Weird. Are parents paying for the post-party apparel in some sort of our-party-had-more-beautiful-people-than-your-party competition?

“My kid is more popular than your kid” bumper stickers would be cheaper, though probably less effective.
