Are you trying to tell us something? {maybe stop? :)]

LOl! Quite the contrary. I'm saying that relying on Ammunition Futures in the form of ammunitions purchase and storage as a retirement strategy is bad advice. I'd fire your financial advisor.

Buy the hell out of it. Keep it dry. Invite me over. Let's use it up. We'll grow the economy together.

I have an anit-gun (scared to death) cousin that noticed my ammo storage area in my shop. They think I'm a little radical anyway because, in addition to the guns I keep, I have 6 fire extinguishers in the house.

“Why do you keep so much ammunition?”

“I got a good deal on it and the mosquitos in the back yard get real bad in the spring.”

Ammo is not an "appreciating asset".

There are occasionally exceptions. Back in the early to mid-90s, I purchased some .38 Special +P ammo that was on clearance at a local sporting goods store. It was PMC's 38J 66 grain tubular bullet load, and I picked up quite a few boxes because it was just $6.99 for 50 rounds, and I figured it would work well for plinking. That stuff was fun to shoot! It shot so flat out of my Marlin 1894, that I had to depress the rear sight all the way down to the last notch to sight it in. About 10 years later, I needed to pay some bills, and ended up selling what little I had left to a nice gentleman who worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground, for a bit over $40 a box. Looks like it's gone up another 20% since then:

Come back and talk after the US Dollar collapses. We are living in unprecedented times.

You keep on saying how bad ammo is as an investment.....the DJIA is flat for almost 12 years. What exactly are you using for a comparison?

BLOAT = Buy Lots of Ammo Today. You can NEVER have enough ammo. Standardize on military calibers, especially U.S. G.I.: .22 LR., .38 Special, 9mm Para (9x19 NATO), .45 ACP, .30 Carbine, .30-06 Springfield, .308 Win (7.62 NATO), .223 Rem (5.56 NATO).

Other calibers: 7.62x25 Tokarev, 7.62x54R Russian, 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 Combloc, 7.92x57 (8mm Mauser).

Da, comrade. Buy lots of fresh 7.62x54R. It has terminated many enemies of the Motherland since 1891. Watch out for the corrosive primer ammo. All G.I. 7.62x54R should be considered corrosive until proved otherwise. Clean with hot, soapy water, dry, lightly oil metal parts, and repeat for three additional days after firing [four days total].

[Note to Freepers: 7.62x54R is a Main Battle Rifle caliber like .30-06 Springfield [aka 7.62x63], .308 Winchester [aka 7.62x51 NATO], 8mm Mauser [aka 7.92x57] or .303 British [aka 7.7x56R]. Effective range is 500-600 yards; longer in specially tuned rifles with match ammunition.]
