Gee...that worked out SO well the last time around didn’t it?
From 1968 to 2008 Republicans controlled the White House 32 of 40 years and we got a lot done. But if we keep fighting stupid we might as well turn the country over to Obama and the socialists.
I recall that Rush was on top of this. The freshman class in the House were the ones refusing to play along. It was the Republicans in the Senate who sold out (IMHO). In the end, it was power politics. Witness what they did with Obamacare. The Republicans still (and honorably so in most cases) still try to play fair.
Who loses? We all do.
The way that it used to work is that all “Main Stream Media” i.e. the alphabet networks, the New York Times, WaPo, etc were considered to be neutral so there was no requirement to give anyone equal time to rebut their constant spin on the actual news....however, any “alternative” media i.e. Talk Radio, Drudge, The Bigs, etc were considered to be political in nature and when anyone made a statement that was deemed to be conservative, then equal time had to be given to a proponent of the opposite view.
If the Fairness Doctrine is ever reinstated, then Rush Limbaugh is off the air, because no station would survive if they had to give three hours each day to Air America types.....
