HONOLULU (AP) -- The coqui is a tiny, coin-sized frog whose distinctive nightly mating calls are a beloved sound in Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands.
But people in Hawaii don't share the same sentiment.

Did they show up when Obama did?
There was one with a very large butt that showed up last week.

They look like the tree frogs we see on our doors and sometimes in our house. The frog at the link sounds a bit different from what we hear; ours is less chirpy, a little more buzzy. When there’s a drought or when the temperature drops, I miss the concert. People in Hawaii must have very sensitive ears to come up with a jet engine as a comparable sound. Puerto Ricans apparently love their coquis. Some of the species is actually becoming extinct.
What's wrong with the Cane Toads? If Hawaiian cane toads have gone metrosexual, we can gladly send you some of ours.

We call them the spring crokers...strange thing is I hardly ever find any in my yard....last year I cooked 2 that somehow got up under the hood of my garden tractor and they fried....Found them when I lifted the hood to put gas in the tank....well done, black and crispy

I can tell you that the male coqui frogs have a very loud mating chirp. Our bedroom is only 30 feet from the jungle, (just outside of Hilo) and without earplugs we would not be able to sleep. They can be killed by citric acid or hydrated lime if one can find them. They are quiet during the day except if the weather is overcast and raining.
Since Obama is in HI, I’m sure this plague followed him there too.
Merry Christmas, Bammy. Hope you & the missus croak.
It’s ridiculous that they blame the lack of eradication on lack of state workers and budget cuts. This sounds like a problem calling for an entrepreneurial , free enterprise solution.
