Skip to comments.UPDATE (Big Government): VA GOP Changed Ballot Access Rules LAST MONTH!!!
Posted on 12/26/2011 1:12:20 PM PST by ak267
There are currently many news stories and blog discussions about the Virginia presidential primary ballot access law. Some large blogs, such as Red State, have over 300 comments about the story. Some defend the current Virginia ballot access laws on the grounds that in past presidential elections, a fairly large number of Republican presidential primary candidates managed to qualify.
But what has not been reported is that in the only other presidential primaries in which Virginia required 10,000 signatures (2000, 2004, and 2008) the signatures were not checked. Any candidate who submitted at least 10,000 raw signatures was put on the ballot. In 2000, five Republicans qualified: George Bush, John McCain, Alan Keyes, Gary Bauer, and Steve Forbes. In 2004 there was no Republican primary in Virginia. In 2008, seven Republicans qualified: John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, and Alan Keyes.

What exactly is the UPDATE? This part has been posted here twice (at least).
Its not the votes that count. Its the who can change the rules that counts.
By stalin and in use by dems
You are a little late to the party.
better late than never. Ooopsie.
Whats the big deal, the Republican establishment is every bit as corrupt as the Democrat establishment, though I tend to believe the ‘Rats have more criminals in their ranks. The parties and our feudal overlords need to go. These shenanigans will only help to re-elect Obama.
Breitbart, Fox News, and every other media outlet better stay on top of this unless they’ve been sucked (or paid off) into the Romney camp, too.
I wonder what the “rules are rules” trolls will argue now in defense of their creed.
If this rule really was altered only last month, and if address-checking didn’t apply with previous instances of the law, then that seems like fair ground to argue the provision as bogus.
What should Virginians do ?
Register.vote ..Cast a blank ballot..Then demand the RNC pass a rule, all ballots cast are counted, that delegates for the candidae can only be seated if their condidate got 50% plus 1 of all ballots (including blank ballots) cast in that primary.
Every show on Fox is in the tank for Romney.
Fox is now all Romney all the time.
Virginia conservative Republicans should do the following:
1) After the holidays get on the phone and raise royal hell with the RPV. If you have made pledges for donations, threaten to withdraw them and that you will donate your money nor your time as a volunteer anymore.
2) If this situation is not resolved and we are forced to vote for these two utter nitwits I say hold your nose and vote for Roach Paul who I think is a complete loon. But if he wins it will utterly humiliate the RINOs in the RPV.
3) If you are not active get active in your local party orghanization and clean out the RINOs at the leadership level.
“What should Virginians do ?”
They (Republicans as this is a party issue) need to push back through the channels at their local level.
If these rules are being monkeyed with and applied arbitrarily; then something needs to happen.
The Up East Good ‘ole boys have got to keep the uppity riff-raff down some how. Why you would think that just ‘anybody’ could become Preident otherwise.
The stupid party does it again.
Lowest Virginia Republican primary voting turnout recorded.
And the same goes for the General Election if the stupid party continues the stupidness.
