A rare species of fish described as faceless and brainless was among the unusual finds made by marine scientists off Britains coast, according to a Scottish government report published on Thursday.
The prehistoric amphioxus species, which grows to about two inches long and has no fins, was recorded off Orkney, part of the Northern Isles that lie off the far northern coast of mainland Scotland.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The elusive fish is regarded as a modern representative of the first animals that evolved a backbone, the Scottish government said.
With a nerve cord down its back, it has no specific brain or face. According to The Scotsman newspaper, it has a translucent, fish-like body but has no true skeleton.

if he can poop on a police car, he could be on the next cover of Time’s ‘person of the year’.
Liberals have found their fish god.
Gotta be a Democrat. For one thing, it’s brainless, for another, unlike the Republicans, it’s well on the way to evolving a spine.
From the genus Liberalas Democraticus?
Faceless, brainless and has no spine.
Perfect candidate for chairman of the GOP.
No, only if it had hairs - Pelosi means hairy in Italian.
So this is where Britain’s LibDems came from as well, then?
The Pearl fish, which eats by sucking from the anus of a sea cucmber, was the winner in THE WHAT KIND OF FISH WOULD BILL MAHER BE? CONTEST. This fish was a strong second.
I’ll get the beer-batter ready!
“Hello. The earth is warming. Newt agrees. Therefore, gimme your money!”

To be sure!
Yep that was the first one we’ve come across.
"About a thousand genes are shared by every organism, however simple or complicated. Although their common ancestor must have lived more than a billion years ago, their shared structure can still be glimpsed. It shows how the grand plan of life has bee modified through the course of evolution."

No fins either? Well, everyone has their limitations.
I always find it amusing that even evolutionists cannot avoid using the language of creation. Can't have a plan without a Planner, after all. It's simply not possible.
Ick...er, I mean ichthys!!! You don’t want to find that in your nut-and-honey breakfast cereal!
faceless and brainless - That’s half of the internet.
Looks like a typical Congressman except for the backbone.
Could be, could be.
They spotted Bawny Fwank?
Or was it Nancy Pelosi without her “Face in a Jar?
...outside of Congress?
If a brain and a face are survival advantage (as are fins), why hasn't its niche been crowded out? The sea isn't THAT inhomogeneous on the scale of this fish's stomping grounds, is it?
And I thought the Hussein Obamas were vacationing in Hawaii?

Why does dame Pelosi wear beads?
So she’ll know how far down to stop shaving
Possible reference for elucidation
The Burgess Shale Formation, located in the Canadian Rockies of British Columbia, is one of the world’s most celebrated fossil fields, and the best of its kind. It is famous for the exceptional preservation of the soft parts of its fossils. At 505 million years (Middle Cambrian) old it is one of the earliest fossil beds containing the imprints of soft-parts.
It can't be a republican ancestor. It has a spine.
Creepy. Seriously creepy. One of the few posts that might have been improved by not having pictures.
