Mountain lion kills family's dog ( NM )

A Los Alamos family is mourning the loss of their pet dog after a mountain lion attacked and killed it in their backyard on Christmas Eve.

Police Capt. Randy Foster said that when Hari Viswanathan heard the family dog, named Gwennie, barking outside and found a mountain lion trying to pull it through wooden slats in the fence, he frantically tried to get the big can to let go and even hit it over the head with a shovel.

Even after four officers responded and the dog was dead, the mountain lion wouldn't let her go,

So, let’s help Mr. Kitty out: Tranquilize him, then beat the krap out of him while he’s immobilized. Just in case he’s a slow learner, crack a few ribs (the gift that keeps on giving). Have all in attendance defecate and urinate on him, then dump him way out in the wilderness. Do you think he’ll get the idea that, if you screw with bipeds or their four-legged parasites, things can go south?

I said that tongue in cheek. Yes, the predators are not afraid of man because they aren’t being actively hunted like in former days. Keep in mind that Leftists love predators whether it is the animal kind or the human kind. I would just love to put them in a room with a lion or wolf (or a blood thirsty tyrant) just see the reality up of what they are up close and personal.

Firearms take care of the problem pretty quick but can invoke all sorts of problems from the criminal justice system. For wolves I suggest taking a pack of Irish Wolfhounds for hikes in the areas where wolves are known to roam. For those big cats only firearms really are appropriate using the shoot, shovel and shutup method for disposal.

I live about as far out in the woods as one can get in Connecticut. Last July my wife and I clearly saw a fairl large mountain lion crossing the very road we live on. I haven’t walked the dogs unarmed since. The F&G folks told me there were no mountain lions in CT so I guess we have nothing to worry about.

If the mountain lion is going near houses and eating dogs small children might be next. I wouldn’t blame anybody if that cat meets an early end from hanging around houses.

Actually the big cats are remarkably easy to kill. If all I had was a 1911, I'll bet it would do the job in solid workmanlike fashion. For that matter if all I had was THIS I'll still bet it would do the job on an American mountain lion.

If F&G says it then it has to be true. They will tell you there are no black panthers in GA. We just had 2 stroll down our street about 1:00 AM several mos ago. Those cats can show up anywhere.

Nature can be so cruel. I’m so sorry for the loss of the family pet. It’s terrible. Very sad and yes, the dog did go to Heaven... The Rainbow Bridge and will wait there for all of them to join him one day.

I have a few ferals out and about. They kill birds, lizards,
go for some possum, or squirrels. Plus to feed them, I gotta
hire(in an indirect way) someone to kill lots of chickens,
lambs, fish, turkeys, cows, and steers just to let them eat.
So if a coyote is hungry and gets one of our cats, although
we are saddened, we know that our cats(both your and mine)
does the same thing to other smaller game. I bet your little “muffie”(and I like my cats, too) has
killed a few helpless furry cute little animals behind your back.
Any which way you look at it, the “dog eat dog world” ain’t too
pretty.

Plus the cat would never cut out your genitalia like they
get it done to them.

if the Twilight zone copied that story from some other
tale, or it was original. I believe the
comedian Ronnie Schell played the representative from Hell.
