Violence erupts in China as police knock down mosque for being an 'illegal religious place'

* Muslims clash with police officers in town of Hexi * Unconfirmed reports two were killed in the clashes

Fighting broke out between crowds of Muslims and police when a mosque was demolished - for being an 'illegal religious place'. Violence erupted in the town of Hexi, in China's northwest Ningxia region, after 1,000 officers arrived to help police the knocking down of the building. More than 50 protesters were injured and 100 arrested after several hundred members of China's Muslim Hui minority tried to stop the demolition.

Sources from the Hong Kong-based Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy. said two people died in the clashes. An employee who answered the phone at the town police station confirmed officers had fought with protesters and said 80 people were detained, but denied any deaths. The employee added that police demolished the mosque after the violence.

The Communist government closely monitors religious activity and is said to be worried that mosques and other houses of worship might become centres for anti-government agitation.

The Hui are one of several Muslim minority groups in China. They include descendants of Muslim immigrants from Central Asia, members of China's majority Han ethnicity who converted to Islam and several other groups.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Does this mean that I now have to be friendly with both Muslims and Chicoms?

The Chinese are wrong. Mosques are fortresses for plotting against the enemies of those running the mosques. They are not religious places.

Hm. One billion Muslims vs. one billion Chinamen.

I think we may have found a solution to over-population.

Hui translates as Hooey; Shi’ite translates as ????heads. As Confucius said, “Can’t we all just get along?” Evidently not.

I’ve said I time and time again (though I do not recall where I first read it) “Communism is a jealous form of government. It tolerates no other loyalties except to itself.”

If the Muslims give the Chinese an excuse to open a can of WhupAss, the Muslims will regret it.

Send a message to Islam. US back China in killing Muzzies. Muzzies have made too many enemies in the world for the world to care.

While China opposes any religion, it is smart enough to know that letting Islam get a real foothold is the first step in China's undoing.

That said, I wonder how many Christian Churches have been treated the same without it being brought to our attention....

Having been in Northwest China (city of Urumqi in Xinjiang Province) I can vouch for the fact that the Han keep a very watchful eye and tight security lid on anything Islamic within their borders. “Tolerance” is not a major word in the PRC vocabulary.

It will be interesting to see how extremist muslims worldwide will react. They act really “brave” when it comes to throwing acid on women, killing their daughters for dishonor, or killing an artist for a cartoon...but will they have the guts to attack communist china who will actually fight back?

“but will they have the guts to attack communist china who will actually fight back?”

In time a terrorist will be stupid enough to actually pick a fight with them and end up starting something. They are ruthless killers, but the Muzzies are just not as smart when it comes to controlling their urge to start something.

I think the Chinese are already plotting on how to get rid of them. The Chinese are likely searching for an excuse to end up mobilizing their military and testing their capabilities in combat. So the Muzzies may well end up being the perfect pawn in their chess game of life.

I think for the time being the Chinese would be better friends. To be honest, I think that without the CHinese we would not have our endlessly delicious varieties of Chinese takeout, now would we?

"we would not have our endlessly delicious varieties of Chinese takeout, now would we"

But what about all that great middle eastern food? I love them kebabs! And there's a place near me called Al Hamra that makes the absolute best roasted pork chops.

I still think its a wash.

You have a point there. Lets just keep the ones we have now and kill the rest, okay? We have the best of China and the Middle East, lets just kill the rest!
