Somehow the word "dystopia" (I believe it is usually spelled with a "y") makes me think of the future promised by the slogans HOPE and CHANGE:

Considering where we are heading, I am not certain distopia will remain an imaginary place.

Hard to believe we’ve come to a place in our history where huge numbers of our fellow citizens actually believe a candidate who espouses free markets, limited government involvement in our lives, the right to life and the right to work will lead to distopia should he or she become President.

I was wondering about that. No biggie. We all go a little Dan Quayle once in a while.

Just kidding! I know Quayle was actually given a card with the word "potato" misspelled on it. He knew it was spelled wrong but he was trying to spare the teacher embarrassment and sometimes, for some weird reason, words just don't look like they're spelled correctly. Or wrongly for that matter.

Yeah, I hear ya. I am long overdue for new glasses, so in the mornings they do not work with the old glasses and do not function on their own quite yet. Life is a bit blurry till I adjust. I glossed right over the misspelling, repeating it. RME Perhaps I should retire and collect my pension? I hear the pensions are quite good for real teachers, my virtual pension won’t get me far though.

Poor Dan Quayle. One of the left’s early casualties. They have perfected their art now. Probably why we will never have our dream candidate; he/she’d be too smart to run.

But the Media suffers from myopia.

I’m afraid that the eventual end will not be the relief of the misery in Allegheny county, but the imposition of the same misery to all counties statewide.

He is a Democrat and Allegheny is going to have high taxes no matter what.

The point here is that the county is continually being forced by the courts to do reassessments, which lead only to more claims of unfairness, which lead to more demands for reassessments.

Meanwhile, other counties (like mine) have not assessed property values in decades. 1972 in my case.

All they want is to be left alone by the courts to decide when and where they want to assess. That I can agree with.

Nobody in any of the surrounding counties wants anything to do with the subject. A politician who promised to reassess would get booted out quick as a blink.

A diagnosis of dystopia does not necessarily imply the need for corrective lenses. However, the two are not mutually exclusive.

My eyes feel better without glasses. It just takes awhile in the morning to get them working right. Thank God for computers and reading devices that allow for increased font size. As the day goes on, this is enough. For everything else, I still have my glasses. Switching back and forth though? Makes it worse. Stinks getting old.
