Investigators on Friday sought help from the public in identifying a man who allegedly dressed up as a Walmart employee to steal four flat screen TVs from a Palmdale store.
Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department said the suspect posed as a Walmart greeter complete with the familiar vest and name tag before he made off with the merchandise on Dec. 31.
He walked in the back, loaded up four TVs into a shopping cart with the appearance of he may have been helping a customer and walked out of the store, said Palmdale Sheriffs Sgt. Dave Moore.
The store was so full of customers that night that other employees were not aware of an impostor in their store, Moore said.
The suspect on the surveillance tape appears to be between a black male between 40 to 50 years old, bald and about 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 250 pounds.
He was reportedly seen driving away in a black pickup truck.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact the Palmdale station at (661) 272-2400 or leave an anonymous tip by calling 800-222-TIPS (8477).
Looks like a Black driving Black crime.
After reading so many stupid criminal stories, it is almost refreshing to read one where the perp executes a simple but clever crime.
Walmart. Always low prices. Always.
Looks like he only put on a Walmart nametag...
He's so smart his every move was caught on videotape.
It’s amazing what you can get away with if you look like you should be doing what you’re doing.
There was a convenience store in metro KC where it seems that the crooks had watched the schedule for refilling the ATM inside the store. Shortly afterwards, a couple of guys in workclothes with a two wheeler and a clipboard came in and told the clerk that there was a problem with the ATM, and they had to take it out for repairs. He signed the “work order,” and they loaded up a newly filled ATM and walked right out of the store with it. I don’t know if they ever caught the guys.
The guys from Red Cell were able to access a nuclear sub by pretending they were supposed to be there.
I think he’s a member of Obama’s re-distribution team!
Well thats original...
This guy was discovered when a supervisor yelled at him to get back to howdy duty — and the guy asked, “Who?”
The fact that he appeared to be serving a customer should have tipped off the manager.
This isn’t as uncommon as you might think. At my store, we have to lock our vests in our locker whenever we aren’t wearing them. Failure to do so is a class a violation and has resulted in terminations.
I made the mistake of wearing a dark blue polo shirt with a Zeiss logo and khaki pants while getting an oil change at a Walmart. It was amazing, I must have had 30 people and 4 store employees come up and ask me for help during my one hour wait. I eventially got smart and hung out in the magazine and book section where people could read the Zeiss logo on my shirt.Problem solved.
Lets see.. I guess this ‘one of Holder’s peeps’, thought that 4 of the 99% needed help, so he volunteer the evil Wal-Mart to donate the 4 tvs.
Recently there was a pair of guys that went door to door offering to shovel snow from the roofs, one homeowner said no thanks so the pair stole his snowblower, video camera caught their faces.
I won’t hire a snow plow truck to clear my driveway after I heard a couple of years ago one guy was doing his plow work on private property and was organizing a theft ring when he saw snowmachines just sitting around and when the tenants were off in Hawaii.
I’m just saying this, people are getting desperate.
Its amazing what you can get away with if you look like you should be doing what youre doing.
True, that! Local college had old buildings with (beautiful!) marble panelling in the bathrooms; stalls and shower dividers. One summer while school was out, a crew in overalls and a panel truck with a contractor’s logo on the side came in, unbolted all the marble that wasn’t actually glued to the walls and left with it.
No one realized it was theft until they were long gone.
Smart and audacious. If he knew the difference between right and wrong, he’d be a successful entrepreneur, or a rising star in the military.
Instead he’s a crook. A waste of talent.
Go into Wal-Mart
Buy the biggest flat screen they have on your credit card heck even pay cash.
Give your buddy// spouse // friend // fellow thief the reciept on the way out the door and send them back inside for the same TV
your buddy//spouse//friend//fellow thief walks out with the TV since he has a reciept
Take the TV you bought back because you changed your mind.
Viola a new TV you never paid for
its a scam that has been going on at Walmart for YEARS!!
and you can insert “TV” or what ever in there.
