Yes, it is true that blacks sold blacks into slavery. Slavery was common prior to the 19th century. People from all races were slavers and were enslaved. Therefore, a fair reading of history is that we, western civilization, put an end to slavery in the world. Looking back, we find that what we did was pretty terrific. Some people might even suppose that nobody could have even believed in slavery, or human sacrifices to the gods, or that people didn’t always believe that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. But, look around, we see slavery today, religious wars today, and denial of the full humanity of certain people today. The revolution is not yet complete. And, even, the revolution is under threat in this country.
