In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
paregmenon \puh-REG-muh-non\ , noun
The juxtaposition of words that have a common derivation, as in sense and sensibility.
Although as artificial as his use of traductio, this use of paregmenon at least reveals Sidney's ingenuity and wit.
-- Sherod M. Cooper, The Sonnets of Astrophel and Stella
The recurrence of the same word with a different inflection, as in the polyptoton, or of different words of the same origin, as in the paregmenon, draws attention to the word thus recurring, and adds somewhat to its logical worth.
-- Josiah Willard Gibbs, Philological Studies with English Illustrations
Paregmenon comes from the Greek word parēēgménon meaning "to bring side by side or derive."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
Who comprehends the incomprehensible?
And who defends what is indefensible?
The answer to each paregmenon:
Is the mainstream media phenomenon
Each conservative they must attack
Can’t touch Obama, a lib who’s black
Day is night, and night is day
Orwell and Huxley have shown the way
While Obama attempts to socialize our society,
MO angrily denies being angry.
As paregmenons go,
it is quite a show,
testing our sense and sensibility.
Look st you with the good memory. A for you.
Sense and senility sounds like my life lately. Clever titles. A for you!
I thought you were doing the Cowardly Lion rant there. What makes the Hottentot so hot? A+ for you.
Nice. Vegetarian pancakes.
that sounds like the intro to Knights in White Satin... ; )
technically, I think you’re talking about the outro, or whatever the talking part that bookends the intro at the end is called
So does this.
A+ for you.
Red is grey, and yellow white.
I sat speechless last night and watched Amb. Bolton endorse Romney. When Bolton comes on I always stop and listen, I was in a stupor afterwards.
Man I am so ready to grab for my bong (which is NOT an euphemism...)
why, did you put it down briefly? ; )
now i’m hungry.
