Scientists want climate change in young minds: Teachings to point to human causes
The Washington Times ^ | Monday, January 16, 2012 | Ben Wolfgang

Climate change subscribers say the fight against global warming will require younger soldiers.

On Monday, the National Center for Science Education, a nonprofit group that denounces intelligent design and supports an evolution-only curriculum in the classroom, will expand its mission. The organization of scientists, anthropologists and others is turning its attention to climate change, and it will mount an aggressive effort to teach the nation’s schoolchildren that climate change is real and is being driven by human activity.

“For 20 years, we’ve helped teachers cope with what we can only describe as societal or political problems in teaching evolution. They’re running into the same opposition in teaching climate change,” NCSE Executive Director Eugenie Scott said. “We worry, because of our experience with evolution, that basic science is going to be compromised as a result of this political and ideological opposition. Good science needs to be taught.”

Critics point out important distinctions between the defense of evolution and the promotion of climate change, since the latter carries more obvious and immediate policy implications. Alarmists call for broad federal policies to combat climate change, such as President Obama’s proposed “cap-and-trade” legislation, which is designed to limit carbon emissions. Although that measure is on hold, a law imposed by the European Union requires all airline companies to pay for their carbon emissions during flights in and out of Europe. Officials at the United Nations have even called for a global tax on carbon dioxide emissions.

Ms. Scott maintains that the NCSE won’t advocate for teachers to push liberal policy solutions to climate change, but others fear that students will be targets of political indoctrination.

“If you say it’s man-made, you must be implying some solutions. [Climate change] is taught to promote a particular political point of view, and that’s the problem,” said Kathleen...

Now they want religion to be taught in the classroom, so long as that religion is Government-Centered Gaiaism.

Get your kids out of the public schools. They are being fed bull$hit. We are in the Lysenko mode of “science” now.

This is the one to show kids.

It has a “next” page, and also a fun “global warming quiz”. Give kids this and they will be pretty immune to the hype, if they are the least bit inquisitive.

Same goes for nearly everything on science TV programs and magazines, they've always gotta slip global warming in somewhere. A TV program about Venus has always gotta talk about the content of CO2 in the Venus atmosphere, that why it's so hot and it's happening here on Earth, too (with the usual somber music). It's such crap. It's gotten to the point that if you say that you don't believe in global warming in mixed company, about half of the people will just look at you like you're crazy. Denying global warming is like denying that the sky is blue.

Here in mexifornia, the 2012 curriculum will teach fag studies to kids. Ain’t education grand? We have the highest dropout rate in the country and I’m not even sure that’s a bad thing nowadays considering what kids are being spoon-fed.

I have an idea: How about we teach kids that the perentage of CO2 in the earths atmosphere is only 0.04% which you can literally call zero point zero, and that liberals would have us believe that man can raise that level against a atmospheric mass of 5,000 Trillion metric tons which might as wll be infinity as far as human are concerned. I guess 5,000 trillion means nothing to liberals though as that’s how high they want the debt to go.

From Steve Jones' classic book “Darwin’s Ghost,” page 249 … primarily about residents in England and Scotland.

“The great tropical factories of life and the rigors of the last ice age mean that the north is a new nation for all its inhabitants. As plants and animals followed the glaciers as they retreated they filled vast tracts of country. Many had no real need to change, because their new homes were no colder than those they had just left. Evolutionists often see the environment as rigid and life as flexible. The story of the ice shows that, quite often, the opposite is true, and that conditions change more rapidly than those who suffer them. Life is always on the lookout for somewhere more comfortable. It is much easier to migrate than to evolve. Northern roots lie in southern parts, and the inhabitants of half the world are testimony to a catastrophe of just ten thousand years ago.”

I was at a garden center a few years ago, contemplating the purchase of some shrub or tree that was rated for a slightly warmer zone than the one I live in. I said to the sales lady, “Well, maybe I’ll go ahead and get it and hope for global warming.” Her jaw dropped and she yelped “Shame on you!”

I had just committed blasphemy. I’m a lost soul...

This is nothing new. Leftists have been indoctrinating our youth for years in the public schools.

This subject is the latest on the assembly line to be brainwashed into our youth.

Judges and school indoctrination gets there agenda forwarded over the rest of us.

There’s this great, big, bad, scary thing that’s going to happen. But you can’t see it, feel it, smell it, or taste it. And I can’t prove it to you because you’re not a scientist and therefore you are too stupid to ever understand. And a lot of other scientists don’t believe it either because they are evil deniers. But its going to kill us all! Unless we stop it. And I can stop it. I really can! But you must give me all your money and obey my every command like a mindless mendicant.

You must trust me or you will die, die, die!!!!!!

I have heard Elders speak of something they called “Spring”, which they claimed is like a temporary global warming.

I wonder if they spake truthfully or if it was just a big steaming pile of legend.

Yeah, the temperature on Venus has absolutely nothing to do with the thickness of the atmosphere. No such thing as PV=nRT anymore. Its funny, when they mention Venus, they never seem to mention that Mars atmosphere is 99% CO2...even more interesting and never mentioned about Mars, is that despite the fact that Mars atmosphere is 99% CO2, its measured temperature is almost identical to its theoretical black body temperature.

The first time I heard ANYTHING on global warming, it was Hillary saying: This is all about getting young folks involved in politics at an early age.

When you control the schools, you control minds....probably first said by AH

newsflash, they get it in religious schools, too

the kids are being taught by the same knee-jerk liberal crowd that graduates from the teaching colleges

and many of the clergy are just as bad or worse

and ask Chris Christie and Newt about their beliefs about manmade global warming
