Let’s see.
My oldest was asked by the local library, which was managed my the public schools to take a job with them, taught art classes to senoir citizens, interned at Adventures in Odyssey and she is now is busy mentoring young ladies.
My second oldest was active in a home school orchestra and began college while still in high school.
Number three is a Senior Patrol Leader running a Boy Scout troop and is currently on two competitive robotics teams with some major league real world time constraints (yea, some of his classes are on hiatus for a few weeks)
Number four is also very active in scouts as a patrol leader.
Yep, home schoolers have no life at all and don’t know the real world.
I was raised on one, two. Now, we are down to just 3 acres. It is enough for the kids to run around. We are talking about getting some chickens. Maybe, this spring.
It's funny you should say that. Twenty years ago, my two oldest kids were in public school (kindergarten and second grade.) We were encountering more and more homeschooled kids - at first I thought the parents were nuts - and my two started asking why we could not do that. By the end of the year they were begging to homeschool. We went to the FL homeschool convention that May and decided to give it a try for the summer. We never looked back - and we homeschooled a year without a break except for Christmas. After our first year, we were amazed at the difference in the atmosphere and relationships within our family (not the extended family - my in-laws are still ticked about it!) It hasn't always been easy, but I think we have accomplished what we wanted for the most part. Three college grads and one more starting college in the fall. Plus, they are productive, decent human beings who like each other and love coming home to visit.
But I might not have considered it if they had not pushed for us to homeschool.
