France: Whose greatest soldier was a woman, and whose greatest general was an Italian midget. Where in the theme park will they put “Goose Step” Lane?

A lot of the veterans of Dien Bien Phu also weren’t French. A good number had their blood types tattooed below their armpits.

The French Empire in 1812 included a lot of areas outside present-day France--a big chunk of Germany, the Netherlands, even parts of Slovenia and Croatia. Additional parts of Europe were under satellite governments. A large proportion of the troops who died in Napoleon's invasion of Russia were not French.

The park should definitely include Napoleon III so they can celebrate the battle of Puebla and the battle of Sedan.

Correct. About 50% were French regulars, about 30% Vietnamese and about 20% multinational Legionnaires, many of whom were Wehrmacht veterans.

I am still a huge fan of Napoleon.

He was trying to overthrow the monarchies of Europe. Had he done so, there would have been far better quality of life for many who suffered otherwise. I don’t know that much good came from Europe’s monarchies. I have to think the people would have been better off in a European Republic which was Napoleon’s ultimate goal.

His goal of Empire was to secure a United States of Europe. Had he succeeded, there would have been no World War I or World War II. Not saying he could have succeeded with Europe’s many disparate cultures and languages, just saying IF he had succeeded.

The victors write history and all major depictions and descriptions of Napoleon were from the British. It is no different from the left describing Reagan. The British hated Napoleon, as they should, but the history they wrote is very one sided and Napoleon was nowhere near the tyrant monster he is depicted as being.

I can only wish that he had united Europe as planned.

He is still revered in Poland, in their National Anthem they still refer to him:

Przejdziem Wisłę, przejdziem Wartę
Będziem Polakami
Dał nam przykład Bonaparte
Jak zwyciężac mamy

We'll cross the Vistula and the Warta,
We shall be Polish.
Bonaparte has given us the example
Of how we should prevail.

I disagree that Napoleon was trying to’secure a United States of Europe”. He was trying to secure employment for his family6. Joseph: first the lowlands, then Spain. Jerome, another crown. Murat [brother-in-law] Naples.

And every government he set up was a monarchy of some sort. Strange to attribute Republican leanings to a man who went from a junior officer in a Republican Army to First Consul to crowning himself Emperor.

And many of those Wehrmacht veterans were Waffen SS.
