I know some people who are on the Paleo diet. The Paleo diet is especially beneficial for people who have a Type O blood type. I wonder what blood type this woman has. Generally speaking, people eat too much junk for food. No wonder we have so many health problems!

MS is an autoimmune disease which is why neurologists routinely order high dose steroids during a relapse. The idea is to shut down the immune system. It is why they prescribe such drugs as interferon. MS is a broad disease with diverse symptoms and many different outcomes. I don’t know of any disease state that probably wouldn’t be helped by better nutrition, but I don’t know of any that cured solely by better nutrition. Most vitamin and mineral supplements are simply voided in the urine. The vitamins to be careful with are the fat-soluble ones which can tend to build up in human systems over time if taken in large amounts.

Too bad you have to become critically ill before you need to search for a better way of life. By the time you need a doctor it’s too late as you will be under the care of the medical profession which more like an ongoing experiment after following recommended standards for pretty much half a lifetime already.

The difference between organic and inorganic is, organic has a carbon attached to the food chain structure via photosynthesis (sunlight interacting with plant life), inorganic, like raw iron does not (have a carbon attached) and would be unusable to the body but iron in say...spinach has a carbon attached to the iron chain structure making it useable or assimilable by the human body. Inorganic substances would actually be toxic to the human body.

Anyway, fasting is much overlooked [(Strictly defined as an empty stomach with no solid food intake for a certain period of time) You still need your liquids for flushing i.e. kidneys]. All living bodies repair and rejuvenate while fasting esp. while sleeping. If you slept for 8 hours, normally would feel refreshed upon waking up. No food intake and more energy. Does that make any sense?

If you understood what the body was doing during sleep especially when your stomach is empty, then it would be no surprise to you how healing and repair takes places when a body is not encumbered with digesting food and can use the blood supply for other necessary operations that are usually hindered or neglected while you are stuffing your face all the time.

There are all kinds of different types of fasting minus the strict interpretation of no food intake and (distilled) water only, examples would be: no breakfast plan which would extend a fast begun during sleeping; 24 hour fast; 7 day fast; fruit only fast; cabbage only fast; no white flour fast; different types of liquids only fast...you get the idea as you can make your own up.

Advantage of fasting? It’s a cleansing which leads to evacuation of unwanted and useless items a body has been forced to store up i.e. amongst the fat cells. Basically, you are full of crap because you overeat. (Very noticeable when experiencing a common cold)

If you are encumbered to begin such as through overeating then you can’t expect a body to function normally in a dramatic change of diet. In other words, adding clean oil to dirty oil gains very little, you either have to filter the old oil or replace it before adding new oil. Same with the contents of a blood stream.

Try not to always let your taste buds dictate your wants and needs when they are sending messages to the brain, could be a false positive.

Iron in spinach is pretty much unusable by the body because it's in a form (ferrous oxalate) that can't be absorbed. The easiest way to get iron is through eating red meat. The heme form of iron is readily absorbed.

Each day:
3 cups of greens (e.g., kale) for vitamins and enzymes
3 cups of broccoli or cabbage for sulfur
3 cups of brightly colored fruits or vegetables for flavonoids
wild fish or grass-fed meat for omega-3 fatty acids
organ meats for vitamins, minerals, and coenzyme-Q
seaweed for iodine

You might not live longer, but it’ll seem a lot longer on this diet. Ugh!

If you understood the body at all, you wouldn't be saying such nonsense.

Advantage of fasting? It’s a cleansing which leads to evacuation of unwanted and useless items a body has been forced to store up i.e. amongst the fat cells. Basically, you are full of crap because you overeat. (Very noticeable when experiencing a common cold)

Also nonsense. There is no physiological mechanism to do what you're claiming in response to not eating. And the only part of you that is full of crap is your large intestine.

If you are encumbered to begin such as through overeating then you can’t expect a body to function normally in a dramatic change of diet. In other words, adding clean oil to dirty oil gains very little, you either have to filter the old oil or replace it before adding new oil. Same with the contents of a blood stream.

This is picture thinking and arguing by analogy that has no relationship to nutritional physiology.

Try not to always let your taste buds dictate your wants and needs when they are sending messages to the brain, could be a false positive.

The taste buds, so to speak, do not dictate wants or needs. The problem most people have in getting fat is simply eating too fast and overriding the body's feedback system that tells you when you've had enough.

And, yes, I am an expert: Ph.D. in Human Nutrition/Nutritional Biology, along with a four year post-doctoral fellowship in Neurobiology/Pharmacology/Physiology.

Just how much iron do you really need? Does a body recycle iron?

Animal products are 40%, 60% assumable and/or absorbable iron. That’s about 40% heme iron and 60% non-heme iron. Lot’s of unnecessary waste there that can’t undergo digestion along with extra fat/greases that accumulate over the years to cause other diseases.

Garden picked fresh and immediately eaten spinach, all the iron is assumable. Only shelf life begins ruining the makeup of fresh foods. Steaming (pressure cooker) will aid in a body absorbing nutrients from vegetables and other foods besides the body reheating intake before breaking it down (digesting).

You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the medical profession, never wrong, always right...better health via doctors.

You're the one drawing the wrong conclusion in the sentence above. Let's plug some other things into the mantra:
1. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the aeronautics profession, never wrong, always right...better flight via aeronautics engineers.

2. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the law enforcement profession, never wrong, always right...better policing via cops.

3. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the aerospace profession, never wrong, always right...better satellites via rocket scientists.

4. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the petroleum industry, never wrong, always right...better petroleum reserves via petroleum engineers.

5. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the plumbing industry, never wrong, always right...better flushing toilets via plumbers.

6. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the optometry profession, never wrong, always right...better glasses via optometrists .

7. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the recording industry, never wrong, always right...better music via recording engineers .

8. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the electronics profession, never wrong, always right...better televisions via electronics engineers .

9. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the automotive industry, never wrong, always right...better cars via mechanical engineers .

10. You are a perfect example of what is wrong with the entertainment industry, never wrong, always right...better production via SMPTE .
Allopathic doctors are more likely to know what constitutes health and disease for the same reason that a chemist is more likely to know what constitutes chemical reactions than an alchemist.

Just how much iron do you really need? Does a body recycle iron?

Unless you're menstruating, you need very little iron. The human body has an amount of iron equal to that in a small nail. Yes, the body recycles iron just like it recycles cholesterol (absorption of bile salts in the gut). And too much iron is very dangerous to your health.

Animal products are 40%, 60% assumable and/or absorbable iron. That’s about 40% heme iron and 60% non-heme iron. Lot’s [sic] of unnecessary waste there that can’t undergo digestion along with extra fat/greases that accumulate over the years to cause other diseases.

The second sentence doesn't even make sense. "unnecessary waste there that can't undergo digestion..." Where, inside or outside the body? If inside, then digestion has already taken place. If outside [technically anything within the intestinal tract is outside the body since, topologically, you're a doughnut] then "extra fat/greases that accumulate over the years" inside the body won't have any effect. You do know, don't you, that an obese person who has adequate physical activity is in less danger of adverse coronary events than a non-obese person that is sedentary?

Garden picked fresh and immediately eaten spinach, all the iron is assumable.

No, it's not. The iron in spinach that comes right out of the garden is mostly in the form of ferrous oxalate, which is not bioavailable.

Only shelf life begins ruining the makeup of fresh foods.

Dried and otherwise preserved food is nutritionally about the same as fresh. The only difference is that with years of preservation, vitamin C may start to lose its efficacy. This was discovered on long sea voyages when the lemon juice used to prevent scurvy gradually lost its antiscorbutic effect. And if a food containing oils is not preserved well using anti-oxidants (such as BHA and BHT), cool temperature, and darkness, the oils can start to become rancid (double bonds in unsaturated fats are broken by free radicals). All these methods of preservation actually provide a much wider range of healthier food than trying to get everything "fresh."

Steaming (pressure cooker) will aid in a body absorbing nutrients from vegetables and other foods besides the body reheating intake before breaking it down (digesting).

Yes, cooking can help to start the breakdown of foods to make the nutrients easier to assimilate. Another benefit of cooking is that it destroys food-borne pathogens as well as some toxins. Most cooked food becomes colder in the stomach than in was in the mouth. There is no truth to the belief that drinking cold beverages inhibits digestion.

I guess we have to go back to square one

From the following link (you’ll notice not mentioned is how many different substances the body recycles or manufactures on its own, talking in an adult person):

http://www.freedrinkingwater.com/water-education3/25-water-organic-inorganic-minerals.htm

Difference between Organic and Inorganic Minerals

We hear day in and day out that we need more minerals. “Vitamins and minerals” are words that go hand in hand when promotion healthy diet items and supplements. In fact, the body needs about 70 different minerals to carry out all the functions a body is required to do. But many may not realize there are two types of minerals: organic and inorganic. Between those two types, it may be easy to recognize which one does a body good. Ever hear people tout the benefits of an inorganic diet?

Here is a brief overview of the differences between these two:

Organic minerals- these are once living, or are living and can bring life to cells. These contain carbon, and their electrons spin clockwise, just like those of the human body. Additionally, these cells can form an ionic bond with the body and can easily break down into materials to help with bodily function, such as tissue repair.

Inorganic materials- these were never living, without carbon and cannot bring life to cells. The body treats these metals like toxins and are tightly held together; they cannot be easily broken down. And, their electrons spin counterclockwise, out of sync with the rest of the body.

Let’s look further at what negative effects inorganic minerals have. Inorganic minerals are removed from water during nature’s water cycle, that is, during evaporation from the sun, only the water itself is removed, with the inorganic chemicals behind. The distillation process is one filtering process that mimics what nature does on its own. So, why are these minerals removed from pure drinking water?

Inorganic minerals are picked up as the water supply runs through the ground. These inorganic, or non-living, minerals cannot be utilized by humans or animals. However, plants can. And, they are the organisms that turn them into the organic minerals we can use through photosynthesis. But, the inorganic minerals that pass into our drinking water cannot help us and can in fact, harm us.

This is because inorganic chemicals cannot absorb as nutrition into the cell walls and thus gets deposited elsewhere into the body. This can cause arthritis, joint pain, kidney and gallstones and even clogged arteries. Lime (calcium carbonate) is one of these minerals. Just think about what that does to your bathtub! Yeah- takes a special cleaner and a lot of elbow grease to scratch the surface of those deposits. (Remember- this is the main ingredient in cement!) In fact, some people suffer from such high concentrations of lime that their hands and fingers can become massively disfigured.

Dr. Norman W. Walker, who wrote a book on this area of water, says that of a person drinks two pints of water a day in a 70-year life span, it will total 4,500 gallons. If it is not distilled, Dr. Walker estimates this water will include 200 to 300 pounds of rock, including lime, magnesium and other mineral deposits that the body cannot use. He does note that much of this will be collected by the body’s water, blood and lymph systems to be eliminated through excretory channels. However, some of will stay in the body, causing those problems mentioned above.

Does your water contain these inorganic minerals? Fill up a pot and let it evaporate. As note above, the water cycle only takes the hydrogen and oxygen from the liquid and leaves behind what else is left. If you’ve got mineral deposits in your pot, you may want to look into getting only distilled water or getting a reverse osmosis filtration system. [end]

And you will do well to remember not to drink during a meal as it dilutes the digestive secretions then people can’t understand why after their seven course meal while pouring down drinks and soup that gases are forming, they are getting sleepy as blood rushes to the stomach and they are getting a burning sensation in their throats. A mono diet or meal would be much better for the body but that doesn’t sell products.

From

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinach

Iron

Spinach, along with other green leafy vegetables,[10] is considered to be a rich source of iron. For example, the United States Department of Agriculture states that a 180 g serving of boiled spinach contains 6.43 mg of iron, whereas one 170 g ground hamburger patty contains at most 4.42 mg.[11] This data may however be misleading. Spinach samples were prepared with soil still on the roots and leaves of the plant. The soil, rich in iron, is thought to have skewed the data.

The bioavailability of iron is dependent on its absorption, which is influenced by a number of factors. Iron enters the body in two forms: heme iron and nonheme iron. All of the iron in grains and vegetables, and about three-fifths of the iron in animal food sources (meats), is nonheme iron. The remaining portion from meats is heme iron.[12]

The larger portion of dietary iron (nonheme) is absorbed slowly in its many food sources, including spinach. This absorption may vary widely depending on the presence of binders, such as fiber, or enhancers, such as vitamin C. Therefore, the body’s absorption of nonheme iron can be improved by consuming foods that are rich in vitamin C[citation needed]. However, spinach contains iron absorption-inhibiting substances, including high levels of oxalate, which can bind to the iron to form ferrous oxalate and render much of the iron in spinach unusable by the body.[13] In addition to preventing absorption and use, high levels of oxalates remove iron from the body.[14] But some studies have found that the addition of oxalic acid to the diet may improve iron absorption in rats over a diet with spinach without additional oxalic acid.[15] [end]

This goes back to my referring to a change in diet, you can’t expect miracles all at once, you have to wait for your body to readjust to correct eating. Suddenly consuming organically grown apples may not do a thing for you in the beginning (Probably get an upset stomach and decide apples are bad for you if your system is already really polluted).
