What books are people currently reading? Any particular fiction or non-fiction of note? Any recommendations from some recent reads?
I just downloaded the novel Hunter by Robert James Bidinotto for my kindle. It's an indie novel and has received good reviews on Amazon. Will report back once I finish up.
“What books are you currently reading?”
Hebrews and James. ;o)
Ameritopia by Mark Levin - a must read if you want to understand the philosophical underpinnings of statism, as compared with individual freedom. Excellent for right now!!!

Just finished King Rat by James Clavell. It’s an old book, but I highly recommend it. Just started The Kite Runner, so far very good.
Will be finished with The Last Days of Socrates in a couple days. Then I will read Codeword Barbelon.
After watching BOR tonight, no Ann Coulter books for me!
I’ve been on the first chapter of “The girl with the dragon tattoo” for over a month now.
Forrest McDonald, Novus Ordo Seclorum The Intellectual Origins of the Constitution.
“Who will tell the people?” by William Grieder
I just read The Hunger Games Trilogy. Not profound, not even great, but I thoroughly enjoyed the dystopian fiction. Fun!
I am reading “The Great Chief Justice: John Marshall and the Rule of Law” right now, and it isn’t as fun as the above, but it is interesting.
I have to intersperse the books I read-—light/heavy etc. Otherwise, I would not be the cheerful optimist and fun person that I am ; ) ....
“The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien.
I don't recommend this book over other histories of the period. It was published in 1837, so the style and language can be difficult to comprehend. I read it because it was already in my library.
Pastor asked us all to re-read Psalms.
I kinda like Sam though Proverbs works.
I am reading the first one right now. Enjoying it a lot.
I am reading John Grisham’s The Litigators. Of course it is good. He is the best author in America, probably the best in American history.
The Hunger Games, Seal Team Six - Memoirs of an Elite Navy Seal Sniper, Alas Babylon (for the jillionth time :), One Second After, The Old Man and the Harley.
My Bible (One year Bible reading plan)
The Food and Cooking of Eastern Europe,
Wonderful Blood (Carolyn Walker Bynum)
and Beyond Sacred Violence: A comparative study of Sacrifice (Kathryn McClymond).
Caesar and Christ, by Will Durant
Treason, by Orson Scott Card
I’m writing one.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks....
Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cellstaken without her knowledgebecame one of the most important tools in medicine. The first immortal human cells grown in culture, they are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than sixty years. If you could pile all HeLa cells ever grown onto a scale, theyd weigh more than 50 million metric tonsas much as a hundred Empire State Buildings. HeLa cells were vital for developing the polio vaccine; uncovered secrets of cancer, viruses, and the atom bombs effects; helped lead to important advances like in vitro fertilization, cloning, and gene mapping; and have been bought and sold by the billions.
Yet Henrietta Lacks remains virtually unknown, buried in an unmarked grave
Call of the Wild
and Hunger Games
“Lucifer’s Hammer”
just finished “The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo”.....convoluted...tedious...won’t be seeing the movie...
The Attack on the Liberty: The Untold Story of Israel’s Deadly 1967 Assault on a U.S. Spy Ship
1984
Wow I read that thirty years ago and it is in my top ten.
Just finished “Children of the Mind” by OSC.

I’m slogging my way through Terry Pratchett’s Discworld. I prefer lighter fare.
“The Old Man and the Harley.”
Good Book!
Read that a couple times years ago. Good book.
Forgot to add. I’m reading them in numerical order, not any kind of suggested reading order. I’m up to The Fifth Elephant.
Born to Run by Christopher McDougall
Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
Bible - Life Journal Reading plan (android app: youversion)
Brad Thor. Just re-read Foreign Influence, now on Full Black.
Last week read Connelly’s latest 2, The Fifth Witness and The Drop.
Working on:
The Civil War series, by Shelby Foote (for the third time)
The Reformation, by Diarmaid McCullough (struggling get through it, though)
The Great Gatsby, by F Scott Fitzgerald
I'm currently reading On Bended Knees by Bill Cunningham, which is about the Black Patch Tobacco War of 1904-9, and Choices of One, which is Timothy Zahn's newest Star Wars novel.
Hitler moves east by Paul Carell. Freeper Homer J Simpson was posting exerpts of it so I figured I may as well buy the thing. It’s an amazing book on Barbarossa.
It is a fun read. After you finish the first one you will want to read the other two right away!!! It is taking over that “Twilight” crowd. (I read those, too :-) . I like to keep up with the pop culture. These are better than the Twilight books, I think. )
Green Eggs and Ham
About 20 years ago I read a novel in which Prince Charles and other royal family members were the victims of a terror attack. I have been thinking about that book and would like to read it again, only problem is I can’t remember the title or author. Ring a bell for anyone?
I read it-—thought it was like reading something from the mind of the Marquis de Sade. Sick and twisted-—but that is what the progressives like to feed the young impressionable minds. I won’t see the movie either.
Call of the Wild
How did you like it? The first time i read it i didn’t care much for it (not at all what i was expecting/hoping for) and have avoided re-reading it even though i’ve read the other books in that series many times now. But i listened to it again recently and to my surprise enjoyed it this time. I think because i went in with a different attitude, accepting the story that Card wanted to tell rather than the story i wanted him to tell.
I tried the “The Girl” novels, couldn’t get past first chapter, either.
