Sitting here now smoking a pork shoulder...not exactly a NY dish, but I'm in MD now and have Virginians coming, so they get it. Son-in-law bringing Boston Baked Beans for the Pats symbol; also, my beautiful wife making pizza appetizers using sliced-in-half pita bread and fontina cheese. Veggies and dip, chips and dip (crab dip for MD), mac and cheese coming, potato salad and cole slaw for pulled pork. Also, Kosher hot dogs for friend who won't eat the pork...plus sauerkraut and fried onions to go with the dogs.
We are all Giants fans...so GO BLUE! We always have LaBatt's Blue at our tailgates in Jersey, so we have that ready too.
I tried smoking a pork shoulder once but I passed out trying to keep it lit.
Making ribs from Gratiot Market, Detroit. They have the best and cheapest!
Well, at least you wound up in an altered state...try a bong next time.;)
Super bowl????
Is Obama and Nancy P going on date, with babies Harry and Joe in tow. Now don’t let the boys play with Nancy’S balls.
Lots of good ideas from our very own FReeper Recipe Thread and Cookbook can be found here:

Just turn it off during the halftime show so they don’t all puke.
Well, you enjoyed your Lions (or as my buddy from Detwah says: Motor City Kitties) this year. My prediction for NFC Championship Game next year: Lions and Niners.
I always make chili (no beans).
Bunch of yankees throwin a ball around....think we’ll have Greens and Neck Bones and watch the Military channel.../s
Thanks for the link. Bookmarked!
Went to the Food Network website....they have an entire section dedicated to SuperBowl favorites by Emeril, Paula Dean, Alton Brown, etc.....
Chose several variations of some longtime favorites such as Nachos, Guacamole dip, different cheese dips, wings, sliders.....
For the main course at half time, 4 slabs of baby back ribs...
Beer and various other adult beverages ready to go....
Going political themed...this year....Fried Balogney sandwiches,Pork Rinds,Assorted Nuts! LOL Naw probably Beer and Brats......
SIL and I are going to a potluck at the local bar (closed for private party) and taking Tomalito (sweet corn dessert).
Plenty of southerners on those teams...Eli from Ole Miss and grew up in New Orleans. And yeah, he has an apartment in Hoboken, but he, wife and baby scoot back down south when the season’s over.
Why, The Giants will be serving the Patriots!
My own bourbon-basted, smoked lox on toast with cream cheese and a dash of wassabi served with deep frozen Finland vodka.
No one will care for the final score — either winners or losers will be equally happy.
Yep...who did Madonna know to get that gig? My preference for halftime show would be for 2 acts: one from each of the cities/areas that each team comes from.
Traitors!/s
Wow...that sounds REALLY interesting. Bourbon-basted smoked lox...my next project in the smoker. What kind of wood chips do you use?
Bourbon cocktail franks, wings in some insanely hot sauce, a meat lasagna, a spinach lasagna, salad, garlic bread and lots of beer.
I put a rub on them overnight. Then I wrap them tightly in foil and pop them in the oven on a baking sheet at 325 for about 2 1/2 - 3 hrs. I then unwrap them and brush them generously with Sweet Baby Ray’s and back into the oven for another 10 min. or so. They are SO good!
I’m not having a superbowl party. The last time I went to a superbowl party was in Germany in 1986, when we had one in the officer’s club. I won’t even be watching the superbowel Sunday night.
ROTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

My contribution to the party we are attending is some of my cuz’s pear, apple, and muscadine wine vintage 2009.
This falcon fan is pulling for Big Blue.
Nice! NFC sticks together...
Beer.
Cheeps.
So, we're having taco chips, bean dip and guacamole, and getting burrito bols from Chipotle. Assorted adult beverages to wash it all down. Very little prep and almost no cleanup.
And we're switching channels during the Madonna performance.
It’s always handy to have some crow on-hand for the post-game snack....
I hope you get better...
Family get-together with fresh Florida stone crab claws and butter and grilled steak. Probably have a few dips in the mix for later in the evening.
No theme. My husband is planning to smoke some ribs and make some appetizers, one of which will (I hope) be shrimp gyoza, with a soy sauce, hot oil, ginger and chives dipping sauce. It all depends on what he feels like cooking tomorrow. I’m going to be a nervous wreck.
Chinese Vinegar Splashed Meatballs, and Parmesan Dijon Wings. And maybe some Chinese Lemon Baked Wings. And all for me. I’m not sharing — especially with ‘pate’ fans. (and I’m originally from Mass.)
Nice...a keeper!
Sounds great...I remember meeting you at the Lyin’ King demonstration back in ‘98 or ‘99 when Clintoon went to the Broadway show.
We will use our halftime to eat our food and then have time for clean up before the second half begins. There is NO WAY IN HELL that we would watch halftime at all and haven’t for years much less with madonna as the star event. What a joke. Who needs the other more... madonna or the super bowl half time organizers. Bring back the marching bands...
1 lb fresh jalapeno peppers (about 22)
wash, slice in half, clean out seeds and stems - wear gloves
mix 1 package 8oz cream cheese, 1 cup parmesan cheese, 1 lb cooked bulk breakfast pork sausage.
when the sausage cools, mix with the cream cheese and parmesan.
stuff the jalapeno halves, bake at 350 for about 30 minutes.Enjoy!
The meatballs sound interesting. My husband made meatballs last week using fresh bread crumbs. What a difference it made!
The NFL picks the "talent" LOL so Roger Goodell is the prime suspect.
The local paper refers to her as the "aging pop star"
Our church is having a party in the gym. The men’s group is cooking burgers but everyone’s supposed to brings sides and other stuff. I’m bringing chili-cheese dip (homemade), some chips, and a little treat I found at a food-service show.
Take a bag of Tim’s Cascade Chips (fantastic local brand, but any STURDY kettle-cooked chips will do), spread them out on a baking sheet, top with crumbled bacon and a LOT of shredded cheddar (we use Tillamook). Stick in an oven at about 375 until the cheese is melted and just bubbly. Remove the pan and serve immediately. Not exactly the healthiest thing...but it’s GOOD.
Party is at my cigar club. We have to bring our own cigars, and hard stuff if we want. (but this is never a problem!) I'm pretty sure that there will be megafood and beer provided at cost, probably about twenty bucks a head. Two flatscreen TVs, and one projection TV. ($80 for Patriots fans!)
Madonna has promised to “gay up” the Superbowl. I bet there will be lesbian kissing and dirty dancing going on. It’s not like she has not given warning, the NFL and whatever network better not say they were surprised.
One more thing I am doing is printing out the rosters (in number order) so folks will know who they are and where they went to college.
