Obama Sandbags the Archbishop

At the end of Sunday mass at the church this writer attends in Washington, D.C., the pastor asked the congregation to remain for a few minutes.

Then, on the instructions of Cardinal Archbishop Donald Wuerl, the pastor proceeded to read a letter.

In the letter, the Church denounced the Obama administration for ordering all Catholic schools, hospitals and social services to provide, in their health insurance coverage for employes, free contraceptives, free sterilizations and free "morning-after" pills.

Until the local Bishops take affirmative action to publicly rebuke abortion-advocating Catholics through public excommunication, I don’t care to hear their posturing.

In the past, the concept of "state run church" has been along the lines of -- "The King is now attending the XYZ church. He expects you all to pay a tithe to his church. In addition, his church will be in charge of the following things ..."

Make no mistake: Obama wants a "state run church" of a different sort -- "Hey, you dhimmi Catholics! Let me tell you how your church is going to be run from now on ..."

But we lost the Constitution a long time ago, so I'm not sure this can be stopped through political means.

Our priest read a similar letter at the beginning of mass this Sunday in eastern PA.

After reading the letter he added that this is a “huge deal” and will have an impact on Catholics and Christians alike for years to come. He encouraged parishioners to contact their representatives.

About half the parish clapped when he had finished. Others stood around looking confused and embarrassed.

This issue is getting bigger. Obama has clearly lost an important voter block: Catholics. So why are we running Romneycare, (Mr. ‘I won’t get rid of Obamacare’) as the GOP Candidate again? Santorum can get us Pennsylvania, an important swing state, in addition to the Catholic vote, which could be important enough to swing some close states. God will bless this country if we vote for a life affirming candidate.

Why would Patrick J. want the White House to come around so Obama won’t lose the Catholic vote?

Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers.

The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth.

The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.

So, why has a public announcement not been made that Sebelius has been excommunicated from the Catholic Church? Is such an announcement not long overdue?

This worship started years ago...scripture says man will worship the creation and not the creator...then we got the enviornuts and the EPA worshiping the creation, that goes back to Nixon who gave us the EPA.

There is not one commandant that the left hasn't broken,

coveting our neighbors goods,

wife,

stealing the peoples money via taxes,

putting the politic' before God, using his name in vain,

misquoting scripture just as satan did,

killing the innocents, and when I was a young girl, all stores closed on sunday (except movie theatres) and you would be hard put to even find a gas station open. Bye Bye Sabbath,

adultry is fine, porno is good, bearing false withness against republicans and political enemies is SOP. What have I missed?

Very typical. Doesn't the Catholic vote usually go 50/50 or close. Sorry Pat, Liberal ideology trumps religion. Catholics won't make a difference in this election or any other. If all Catholics were true Catholics none would vote for these commies. The churches are full of CINOs.

My focus was here:

“...unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth...”

You may have “free healthcare”, if you don’t mind killing babies as part of the package.

“solution” “at the price of apostasy”

It’s a mixed bag, even with the clergy. We’ve had a number of young priests cycle through the parish who were willing to stand outside planned parenthood with us, participate in the marches, and give very strong pro-life homilies. But they have been tempered over the past 6 years by a pastor who is very ambitious (wants to be a bishop ambitious) and seems more interested in making everyone feel welcome in the church, keeping the member numbers up, the collections coming in, etc... He didn’t even give a homily the Sunday before the 2008 election.

I understand the church wants to keep the money coming in, and the number of members up, but I’m tired of attending mass in a huge church with a bunch of empty-headed posers.

"So, why has a public announcement not been made that Sebelius has been excommunicated from the Catholic Church? Is such an announcement not long overdue?"

"Mussolini urged Pius to excommunicate Hitler as he thought it would render him less powerful in Catholic Austria and reduce the danger to Italy and wider Europe. The Vatican refused to comply and thereafter Mussolini began to work with Hitler, adopting his anti-semitic and race theories.[21]"

Hmmm... wonder if the Catholic Church ever did excommunicate Hitler? Overdue?
