My son and daughter peacefully sleep well in their beds every night because of men like your son. Congrats and God bless. You have raised a wonderful son.

Congratulations!! That’s not an easy task to accomplish, and even harder still once he’s there. I wish him all the best! Effective time management is ultra-critical there.

Although I have no affiliation with USAFA, I have become an avid fan of the place. I knew several young men who went there (and graduated!) and they were top-notch kids.

Again, congrats!

Thanks. This year the Academy is only offering 1050 appointments instead of the normal 1300-1400, so this year the competition is brutal. We live 70 miles from the Academy so now I’m going to be looking into season Falcon football tickets.

Congratulations! You deserve to be justly proud.

I’m on a podunk dirt road in New Mexico about three miles from the 17th century, and when our neighbor’s son was admitted to West Point we had a party that most Roman Emperors couldn’t match!

America lives in such young men!

What a wonderful day in your life!

I will never forget the day the letter arrived from West Point that our son made it! It was my birthday, and what a scary but wonderful present.

His years there will be tough, and you will be needed to support him in his endeavor. But, be proud that he qualified, and that he is brave enough to take on this duty to serve us all.

Sometimes our kids just surpass all our expectations, and amaze us all. We do out best as parents, but never know whether our best is good enough. Every once in awhile, we, as parents, get lucky, and are blessed with watching our sons/daughters succeed beyond our highest hopes.

Enjoy these next four years as best you can. There will be some hard times, for the Academies really test them to the breaking point, but they will surprise you, if they are motivated.

Praying for you, fellow parent, for I know what it is like to give a beloved child up to the military academies, and totally lose control. Both a proud, but also a very scary time.

Thanks. What they say is true. This is a roller coster ride that does not stop. His Liason Officer told us to wrap him in bubblewrap until he starts Basic Cadet Training the end of June.

As an afterthought, does he know that the rivalry between the three wonderful military academies will earn him a nickname?

All of us USMA parents will now call you “zoomie parents”, like we call the Navy cadets, “squids”. I am sure they both have insulting names for USMA, but being a good army mom, I totally forget what they might be.

(Just kidding, sort of. The rivalry matters, until everyone graduates, ::I think::)
