Man kills Chihuahua with golf club, hit it 'as if driving a ball off its tee' : police
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS ^ | February 8, 2012 | Nancy Dillon

Posted on 02/08/2012 7:37:00 PM PST by EinNYC

A Southern California man who allegedly killed a miniature 6-pound dog by teeing off on the Chihuahua with a golf club has been charged with felony animal cruelty.

Larry Jaurequi, 58, faces up to four years in jail if convicted, Riverside County prosecutors said.

A police report states Jaurequi swung the club against the little dog, named Lily, "as if driving a ball off its tee."

"The force of the swing sent the animal flying through the air. The suspect was preparing for a second swing when he was stopped by people that had just witnessed his acts," Sgt. Sergio Rodriguez with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department wrote of the Jan. 26 incident.

Jaurequi allegedly approached the Chihuahua in a cul-de-sac near his residence after the dog escaped along with Poodle from its owner's house while the owner was at work.

The owner found the injured dog suffering as the suspect was walking away from the location, police said. The owner rushed the dog to an emergency veterinarian, but the animal did not survive.

A spokesman for the Riverside County prosecutor's office said Jaurequi, who lives in Menifee, also faces an enhancement alleging he used a dangerous or deadly weapon.

Attempts to reach Jaurequi were not immediately successful.

This sociopath loser needs to have a rock meet his head at the same time his golf club performs a colonoscopy on him. How could you do that to a tiny dog? Monster!!

What a guy!

Wonder if he does the same with his wife, girlfriend, mother...

Doesn’t take much to graduate from abusing animals to killing a human being.

A max of four years in jail is not enough punishment.

I would love to have him lay on his back, then I would put a golfball on his crotch and swing to club as hard as I could. I don’t know much about golf but would 50 over par be good in this situation? If so, I’ll take it!!

Lowlife scum Poor sweet little dog.

Something similar happened to me about 25 years ago. I was playing golf by myself and quickly caught up to a twosome on a par 3. There was a pond nearby, and, from a distance, I noticed they caught a large bullfrog. Then they placed it on the grass. Before I could say anything, one of them swung his club and obliterated the frog -- to sick roars of laughter.

I stormed up to the guys and truly went ballistic. They were both bigger than I was, but I'm a huge hothead and I think they couldn't believe how irate I was.

It created so much of a scene, the marshall showed up, and after hearing what happened, he booted the two sadistic bastards off the golf course.

To this day, I still can't believe the sadistic streak that some people have.

Now I'm irate again.

Gee, thanks...!

Mercy, a true Peta member I assume. While this act was a bit outrageous (he should have gathered the remains and eaten the legs - yum), you seem to take this act just a bit out of context. Yes, it was over the top.

No, I would not have done that - although hunting frogs for food is a good thing.

There are always those that take squashing a bug, swatting a mosquito, shooting a groundhog, etc...(you know who you are) as acts against humanity. I’d bet that most of you are not against abortion though...

Go get you panties in a wad over something more relevant.

Ah, but deagles are fair game here... Just not dogs and cats or other pets. Now eatables like frogs legs - not a chance. Use to love hunting those but of course, being from the country and needing them for sustance, it was a given.

Glad you had the courage to intervene Flycatcher. It’s one thing to hunt for food, but just for the sake of killing and destruction for fun is evil. Human, animal or plant!

I know very little about golf (what’s a birdie? what’s a bogie?) but I imagine that attending the trial would be a highly educational experience once the attorneys of the sides present golf experts.

Thanks, beaversmom.

I eat meat. Love it. I've even eaten frog legs. They're good. Like chicken, lol.

But there's a huge difference between hunting and fishing and harvesting animals for food and clothing, and wantonly killing them for no other reason than sadistic sport.

For want of a better term, the difference can be summed up by a simple phrase: Christian stewardship.

If it were my pet that guy would have had to have an operation to remove that club from his colon.

You don’t take it out on a loser’s pet (if this were even the case). You deal with the loser owner. Not the animal.

Some people get pissed people get upset about any other cause than the one they’re most adamant about. Nothing else matters. Abortion is huge but in this world if we only focused on one particular evil at the expense of the rest...? That’s why there are a lot of people with different issues that irk them, so they can fight and advocate against all different kinds of bad. Not saying they are all equal but I am saying certain issues resonate more with certain people. Got plenty of work to do out there for all of us.

Some people take pleasure in killing things, if they could kill people and get away with it they might. Sometimes they find a home in third world armies which are nothing like our military but exist to brutalize their own populace into submission. This type of character would fit right in one of those except instead of amusing himself with little dogs it would be with helpless men, women and children. I had a cat who would kill and hurt things just for pleasure so humans are not the only one of God’s creations to have that nasty quirk.
