The controversy surrounding Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has been criticized for partying after New England lost Super Bowl XLVI, took a different turn on Thursday morning when an ESPN commentator called Gronkowski white boy wasted, then apologized.

Rose's comment was absolutely racist. But, the fallout will be minimal.
However, if Chris Mullin had called Deion Branch a, "Black boy blitzed," the firestorm that followed would have been epic.
Rose is a racist, but, because he is black, he will get a pass.
It's the way society operates, and nothing is going to change it.
Fortunately I am not that easily offended
I'm sorry if anyone is offended.
Aside from the idiotic racist comment and the double standard, why was Gronkowski’s behavior news in the first place? The season was over, he’s not even going back to training camp for months, why shouldn’t he be allowed to unwind as he sees fit?
Because they lost? It was a close game, he played through a lot of pain, and they had a great season. He shouldn’t need to act all depressed just because they came up short to a team that played a very good game.
was lil black boy wasted when he called the white boy wasted?
He is white, he was wasted.
It was true who cares.
So, this Jalen Rose character was rather niggardly with his praise for Mr. Gronkowski.
On March 11, 2011, Rose was arrested for suspicion of DUI. He pleaded guilty on May 25, 2011. On July 27, 2011, Judge Kimberly Small sentenced Rose to 20 days in county jail starting August 2, 2011, despite pleas for leniency from prominent people such as Detroit mayor Dave Bing. Rose was released on August 18, 2011four days ahead of time due to good behaviorand ordered to complete one year of probation, and attend alcohol awareness classes and alcohol impact group sessions.
I heard it live and I thought it was funny. Nothing more that a bit of trash talking.
Athletes refer to their teammates as “my boy...” It a term of affection and it goes both ways.
I’m not offended by the joke, I’m offended by the double standard.
Cowboy; Joker; Rasterman; 8-Ball; Animal
Full Metal Jacket, hard Vietnam movie but more true than false.
why, yes, I do. just watched this the other day.....lol
So were you trying to be offensive?
He likely did take some pain killers after the game and that and some brewskies, I’d be whooping it up too..
It’s the new age media that shows the videos and seek out stories to fill bandwidth. His agent should have kept an eye out for him.. but he was probably pe-eyed too. ;-)
Just getting to the SB is quite a feat, he’ll likely make it back as long as Tom is slinging the ball. Heck, let ‘em party.
Because Pats fans are still beating their children, kicking their dogs and divorcing their wives in record numbers this week after that unthinkable loss and now the video they see slaps them in the face with the brutal truth that the game meant much more to their sorry lives than it means to a bunch of millionaire boy athletes who are paid to provide a meaning and purpose for said Pats fan's very existence.
That, coupled with the Sawx historic collapse at the end of last season and the subsequent locker room fallout, it's not fun for chowdah heads these days. Trust me, I work with one. He's STILL not over the Red Sox losing last year. Got tired with trying to talk him off the ledge after "his" teams' losses. Next time, he can go ahead and jump. His wife is even getting pretty sick and tired of her 40 year old man-child.
I can’t see why chowdaheads are bitching. The BoSox, Bruins, Celtics and Pats have all recently won a championship. Time to let some other area have a chance to see a championship.
Sure do, and IIRC this scene (from your posted pic) ends with “Thank God for the sickle-cell”
And anyone who thought Animal was a racist didn’t see the end of the movie; Animal just about loses his mind with grief when 8-Ball was hit by that sniper in Hue City.
Awesome flick IMHO.
