Right-wingers tend to be less intelligent than left-wingers, and people with low childhood intelligence tend to grow up to have racist and anti-gay views, says a controversial new study.
Conservative politics work almost as a 'gateway' into prejudice against others, say the Canadian academics.
The paper analyzed large UK studies which compared childhood intelligence with political views in adulthood across more than 15,000 people.
The authors claim that people with low intelligence gravitate towards right-wing views because they make them feel safe.
Crucially, people's educational level is not what determines whether they are racist or not—it's innate intelligence, according to the academics.
Social status also appears to play no part.
The study, by academics at Brock University in Ontario, Canada, used information from two UK studies from 1958 and 1970 , where several thousand children were assessed for intelligence at age 10 and 11, and then asked political questions aged 33.
The 1958 National Child Development involved 4,267 men and 4,537 women born in 1958.
The British Cohort Study involved 3,412 men and 3,658 women born in 1970.
It's the first time the data from these studies has been used in this way. …

Brock celebrates its place in the biosphere with UN flag raising
Published on January 26 2012 Brock University raised a United Nations flag at its St. Catharines campus today to celebrate its geographic location within the Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated Ontario's Niagara Escarpment a Biosphere Reserve in February 1990.
The ceremony was co-ordinated by Brock’s newly established Environmental Sustainability Research Centre (ESRC), which was created to pursue transdisciplinary research at the University concerning the environment, sustainability and social-ecological resilience.
The same UNESCO that recognized “Palestine”, of course.

Psychiatrists and psychologists are dangerous to humans and other living things. 85% of’em are certifiable and should be removed to an island where they can only analyze each other. They would be happy as clams for the rest of their unnatural lives.
That alone would prove that this ‘study’ and the people that produced it are completely incompetent.
My wife works at a university. It is amazing how many people profess every liberal belief (so called liberal straight ticket) but when you have a private conversation you find out that they think most of it is nonsense.
Part of the success of liberalism is that for so many fields it has become a prerequisite to profess belief for it.
And that is the other thing this study missed entirely. Many people, especially the more educated, feel they must express liberal ideas in public. Conservatives are more likely to say, “FU, this is what I believe - take it or leave it!” What people openly profess to believe is not so much a measure of intelligence as it is a measure of backbone.
What a BS survey. The authors define “right wing views” as racist views. Racists usually do have lower intelligence. Ergo, Right wingers are stupid. But what about the fact that through out US history, most racists were Democrats? And is a belief in limited government “stupid.” Is a belief in Socialism “smart.” How does that play out when you view the evidence of the collapse of Socialist countries? How does it play out when you see that Statism results in situations like Greece where people riot when you try to balance the budget, or Detroit, where liberalism has destroyed the city? Were those people smart? Were the ones who said expanding entitlements is dangerous stupid?
Liberalism is the intellectually lazy path to a feeling of self-worth and superiority. It’s a sham that rejects reality in favor of a world view that sees things the way the liberal wants things to be instead of the way they really are. Liberal self delusion is at the heart of this bogus “study”.
Doublethink in real life. What is even worse is that they have the authority to throw the "liberal straight ticket" into the sewer where it belongs yet tenaciously hold onto it; they don't have to fear loss of funding that much.

Pay particular attention to the role of Gordon Allport, the supporter of the Communists in the Spanish Civil War, who as a Professor at Harvard was touted across academia as an expert on "Prejudice," by the 1950s & 1960s. He even insulted those who valued their own families--a real example of fatuous Leftist theory substituted for reality.

I truly wish that this would be broadcast across every PA system in every school in every state of this nation every day. We would hear high school "history" teachers' heads exploding to the 1812 Overture across the country. It would be epic.

More likely, the brighter you are the more likely you are to hide your prejudice. Gosh, the authors of the study are not very bright.
This must explain why left wingers are constantly clamoring for the nanny state to wipe their arse, while right wingers prefer the government stay the hell out of their grill.
