An Italian prosecutor wants to put Amanda Knox back in prison, saying today that he is "very convinced" that she killed her roommate Meredith Kercher.
Prosecutor Giovanni Galati filed a 112-page appeal today seeking to throw out a court ruling that found Knox innocent of her roommate's murder and set her free after four years in an Italian prison.

Oh for goodness sakes Amanda, let them waste their money on this. It’s not like Italy doesn’t have money problems as it is. JUST DO NOT STEP FOOT IN ITALY EVER AGAIN. Tell your parents not to go to that court case on so called slander in Italy either. The entire family should just cross Italy off their list forever.

If they get a warrant, she should probably avoid any EU country and maybe avoid any country besides the US that has an extradition treaty with Italy.
I think I heard on the news a while back that she had inteneded to return this fall to go to school. DONT DO IT!!!!!!

by extradition treaty, do you mean that if she gets a warrant, the U.S. is going to turn over one of our American citizens to another country? Please tell me that would never happen.

If she were to go to Italy voluntarily and gets arrested, my support for her would be gone. She cannot be that stupid. Wanting to go and going are two different things.
She speaks fluent Italian, she has many Italian friends, her fellow inmates were very nice to her, the Italian public was also largely supportive.
Only the local Italian prosecutor has it in for her - oh, and also the entire UK.
She would be wise to never set foot in the UK, ever.

It does seem stupid, but I think the Italian prosecutor is holding her parents. She may have to return to testify on their behalf... but yeah... she needs to stay away.
The whole case is just bizarre, and that prosecutor is an overzealous wingnut. It’s just mind-boggling that Italy allows a prosecutor to appeal a not-guilty verdict. That kind of double jeopardy is the worst kind of third-world nonsense.

Sort of reminds me of an incident a few years back in VietNam. A guy escaped from prison, killing a guard in the process; he got to the States and disappeared into the local community. After about ten years, he decided he wanted to visit home. He applied for a visa to visit Vietnam and they granted it. My wife was aboard the same flight on her way to visit her folks and when the plane touched down outside of Saigon; the authorities came aboard and took the guy away. You can’t make this stuff up. There are people that stupid.
Her parents are being held in Italy? On what charges?
Take it down a notch.
That's the nature of code law, which is just as "first world" as common law.
There are aspects of common law that code jurisdictions also consider strange or backward - like prosecution in absentia.
And there are specific American practices - like allowing attorneys to coach witnesses before they testify - that are considered beyond the pale by foreigners, both common law and code.
I am saying that the US would be the only country with an extradition treaty with Italy that would not enforce a warrant - with the possible added exception of Canada.
That is good. The last thing I want is foreign countries dictating what will happen with our American citizens. I guess it is like France not giving back that child molester French producer a while back. France said “go to hell” you are not taking him which although the behavior of the producer is disgusting and should be in jail, I don’t think America should be dictating another country either even though we are the greatest country on Earth.
BTW, no matter what she did or didn't do or know, she would have walked in the USA, too. The cops did not (a) read her her rights. (b)Did not allow her to get a lawyer to be present during the interrogation. (c) had no interpreter present. (d)did not record the interrogation. It was a foregone conclusion that the Eyeties would walk her out of the can. They actually have the same rules as we do ... it's just that ... well .... they do it their way.
I think she should go back. She is a star. She speaks great Italian now, perhaps with a charmingly tough jailhouse accent. Besides, the case actually cannot be re-opened.
But, with her erotic and chemical hobbies, who knows, maybe this Galati chap will get a new crack at her?
They are under indictment there for criminal slander and will be arrested if they go back.
Her parents are charged with slander, for making comments about the prosecutor. I do not know where they are, whether they are still in Italy or not. If they are in Italy, I’m sure the prosecutor would use them as leverage.
