Thank you. Spelling was never my strong point but then if one can’t read spelling becomes moot, right? Thanks again “Dave’’.

It is 68 and the fog is beginning to lift-the contractor I work with is trapped indoors, miserable with allergies because everything early spring is beginning to bloom, so one estimate was all the work I had today.

I’m making a conscious effort to spend a great deal of time each day hiking in the woods among the blooming vegetation so that I don’t have adverse reactions to it-I’ve been doing it for years and it works for me.

All the minatory growling
From Obama and his bunch
Failed to stop the Bishops
From delivering a big punch

Then he tried to placate them
By playing a transparent game
It only made everyone angrier
And Obama seen more to blame

No one is about to shut up now-
He can forget his Marxist goals
It looks like he may end up out
Because of a battle over souls

they had that Pekingese that won the Westminster on Fox-I’ve got to say that breed is not a favorite of mine. But last week I was watching some British movie or other about Regency England, and every time the actor playing King Charles appeared in a scene, at least a dozen of his namesake Cavalier Spaniels were capering about, fetching satin-covered balls, running after him, sitting in his chairs, etc. The movie was interesting, the costumes opulent, but the little dogs were delightful-made me laugh every time they appeared.

Speaking of animal life, I spent the afternoon for myself yesterday-packed up a lunch, a trowel, some baggies and hiked in the woods for a couple of hours, collecting plants and seeds to plant in my yard.

Up at the top of the hill near the next road, in the forest at the bottom of a big rockfall, there were deer tracks, cougar tracks, signs of a hellacious struggle, and the marks of something being dragged into the deep woods. I’ve never seen anything quite like that before-it was all in fresh wet soil, too, because it had rained the night before-you could still smell the crushed vegetation, as well as see it.

After the hair stood up on my neck, I hiked in the opposite direction of the drag marks, walking backwards, waving my stick around and singing “Revolution” loudly-a mountain lion is bigger than me-I had pepper spray, but I’m not going to piss the thing off by staying in its dining room. It was an interesting find, though, and I did find some Germander to try to transplant, and some Vitex seeds from a little grove of them escaped from cultivation...

Yikes! We’ve had sightings in the county of a black panther, the 4-legged kind and the wildlife folks felt compelled to say someone must have brought it into the area and let it go. To which we responded no...um...kidding, Sherlock.

LMAO! Unlike Gibbons, I don’t hang around when I know there is a predator close by, no matter how many goodies I find. That cougar comes to within sniffing distance of this road since that gated neighborhood was developed.

When that La-De-Da neighborhood of acreage lots was developed at the end of the road, the game warden said for everyone in this neighborhood not to leave pets unattended or loose, be more careful hiking, etc because mountain lions and coyotes come into areas like that emboldened by clueless people and their slow, soft, unattended city pets, and carelessly covered trash.

The townies thought he was full of it, wrongly thinking that all “wild” animals avoid civilization-I guess they never watch the nature programs that show the havoc cougars, coyotes and bears cause in densely populated states like California...

Oh, my-I hope it gets trapped and given a nice home in a zoo or sanctuary-they are not terribly great in numbers. I hate it when people buy wild animals and shut them up in little areas or cages. They were never meant to live like that-then when they are too big and neurotic to handle, they just turn them loose-like all those Pythons and Boas in Florida...

I suppose I can’t convince you to give up your nature walks? How about no more food going into the woods with you? Scary.
