NBC poised to re-sign special correspondent Chelsea Clinton

Despite being billed as one of the most ‘boring people of her era,’ with television performances slammed as monochromatic and lacking charisma, Chelsea Clinton won’t be going off the air anytime soon.

A source from NBC told the New York Post that Miss Clinton’s relationship with the news network won’t end when her 90-contract expires. The Post speculates that Miss Clinton, who was brought on as a special correspondent last December, will continue to report and produce segments to air on Rock Centre With Brian Williams.

NBC declined comment to the Post, and a rep for Miss Clinton did not immediately return a call. Miss Clinton’s original contract with the network was only for 90 days, and is set to expire in a few weeks.

Since her tepid debut last December, a handful of specials reported by Miss Clinton have aired on NBC. The first was a feature piece on an after school program in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

The latest, which aired last Wednesday, covered a charter school in Rhode Island, and highlighted the success of unconventional teaching methods. Another piece from January 30 details the story of a veteran prisoner of war who provides soldiers with therapy dogs.

She doesn’t look like Bill, more like Hillary.

You can say that again. Speaking as someone who labored in the salt mines of broadcasting (before having the good sense to embark on a military career), I can say, without hesitation, that Chelsea Clinton is one of the least-talented individuals who has ever worked in television. Flat, monotone voice; zero charisma and no appreciable skills as a broadcaster or a writer.

If she were an ordinary J-school grad, she couldn’t get hired as a reporter in one of the smallest TV markets. She might have a slim chance of getting a job as a producer, but that requires someone who can write, edit and make decisions on the fly. Again, no evidence of that, and rest assured, Miss Clinton doesn’t shoot her own video, write her stories, or edit the final segments that appear on NBC.

Of course, this is really about her eventual political career. The Clintons understand that Caroline Kennedy’s bid for the Senate was demolished by her lack of media skills. Ms. Clinton will stay at NBC long enough to polish her communications skills, then move on to a safe Democratic district for a Congressional run.

Sadly, we haven’t see the last of the Clintons in the political arena.

One more thing: whatever happened to her previous gigs at McKinsey and Company and Avenue Capital Group. She was hired by that latter firm in 2006, but I get the impression she left the company well before being hired by NBC. I’m guessing both jobs were favors to her parents, allowing the firm to score some political points, while Chelsea pulled down a six-figure income for very little work. Sorta like her NBC gig.

How many reasons to NOT view NBC? Don’t know. But if they sign the Clinton progeny, that will be another BIG one!

Now that you raise “that” question; does anyone else sense a noticeable resemblance to Web Hubble?

Re your photo:

Did it take a lot of work to straighten that hair, or did it just straighten itself with maturity?

I have nothing against wavy hair, BTW, I just don’t like massaged and packaged fakes.

“I’m guessing both jobs were favors to her parents...”

Absolutely. If you ever want to see how elected or appointed political types make money, check how their family members are “employed.” Spouses will sit on company Boards, own companies that benefit from gov’t contracts, etc. Not to mention the cushy post-gov’t service jobs the principals get. It’s probably as bad as the Mafia or some third-world kleptocracy.

The most talented political offspring have been Margaret Truman, who wrote successful crime novels about Washington,D.C., and Bristol Palin, who did a few outstanding-enough dance numbers on ‘’Dancing With the Stars’’ to avoid being ridiculed by the Palin-deranged attack-dogs of the MSM.

Chelsea Clinton needs to find something she’s good at, which is clearly not television news reporting, or a worthy cause, something. Then she can write a book about it, and her Clintonian over-endowment of compulsive exhibitionism-cum-egomania might be channeled in a socially acceptable way instead of aggressively boring NBC’s dwindling audience.

Papa Vince would be so proud of his daughter.

What a wonderful country America is to elevate this butt-ugly, no-talent, imbecile to national stature.

What did they expect when they mixed line bred Arkie pig lips with Hillary Ramrod B*ll D*ke Bang Bang Thunder Thighs - someone who looked like Emmylou Harris? Holy Cow. Even if the poor creature were a saint, which by most accounts she is not, she will never be able to live down the pure evil of her parents.

At least there's only one of the junior Clinton beasties. Frickin' Kennedies had about eight.

Let's be fair now. I'm sure she worked every bit as hard for her six figure salary as Mooch-El did for hers.

“Miss Clinton” has been married for some time.

Miss ?!? As in an unmarried Miss ?

I wonder if Chelsea Clinton's father-in-law, Ed Mezvinsky, is still serving hard-time in a federal penitentiary for FRAUD.

You beat me to it...after posting, I thought about the obvious similarities between Chelsea Clinton’s “job” with NBC and Michelle Obama’s position with the University of Chicago. As I recall, she pulled down a cool $350,000 a year in a job created specifically for her, and she spent less than 20 hours a week in the office. And when she went to Washington, her “vacancy” was never filled. Go figure.

F. Scott Fitzgerald was right. The rich (and powerful) are very different from you and me. And it cuts across the political divide; one of GWB’s daughters was a “correspondent” for the Today show and Meghan McCain has landed some well-paying pundit gigs, despite a tissue-thin resume. But being the daughter of U.S. Senator certainly opens a lot of doors.
