Talking to my wife. Apparently some Qurans were either thrown in garbage or not disposed of properly. Civilians are blaming the military but the deed was done by the locals. Still, locals are not taking it well.
They rioted all day and are now in the process of firing missiles into the base.
This operation from day one has been a cluster F* since we have been unable to control the civilian population.
Prayers for all.
Still think this is the “religion of peace” George?
Should I take a shower?
If you are over there I heard the latrines were out due to putting out all the fires the “friendly” civilians caused
Islam is a religion of peace, and Moslems reserve the right to dismember anyone who says otherwise.
Huh funny I thought throwing the crayon in the trash was the correct way to dispose of it.
Rumors were started by the afghan garbagemen hauling garbage from the base that they found burnt korans in the trash. No one even knows if it’s true.
Doesn’t have to be true.
The rumor starts the riots.
nope...they are shut down because the company that has the maintenance contract, FLOUR, hires all third-country and local nationals for their contracts...the TCN’s won’t clean the latrines or hook up the hoses to pump the water in and pump the gray and black water out...those jobs are for the locals...who were not allowed onto the base for the most part today
I will be writing a letter to congress and the media once I’m out of the world’s ass-crack...asscrackistan.
The goal should be to break up both countries into the tiny bits of their ethnic/religious/linguistic factions. They are far more manageable when they are fighting each other. Get Americans out of Af-Pak
By all means do not let any of these people into the USA.
Oh, yes. And they do SO love their riots. They are swarming creatures after all.
ok thanks, thought the water used to estinguish the fires outside the base would of caused the shut down
have not heard back since the explosions started
I’m so SICK of these people and their faux religion and their fury over everything. They are the only ones in the world who behave that way and everyone walks on eggs to not cause them to riot. The commander at Bagram probably has orders to apologize...he should be mowing them down with 50-cals. They will still hate us but may think twice before getting in our face.I say every American should burn a koran in their driveway every friday afternoon.
The goal should be to utilize obama’s green energy philosophy and turn the whole country into a green area. Let it glow, let it glow, let it glow.
What happened to the surge in Afghanistan? Wasn’t the goal to get things under control like after the surge in Iraq? (I am aware of the current Iraq shortcoming, I am talking post surge time frame)
BREAKING NEWS ALERT.. Today Afghani musses took a time out from killing christians and each other to ...well.. try and kill christian military men from the USA over some alleged Koran thing or the other... Tomorrow they will be back to their normal sacrament routine of ... well.... killing christians and each other.
Best wishes to you. I am sorry we have idiots leading us that won’t let you clean this up.
The materials were in trash that two soldiers with the U.S.-led coalition transported in a truck late Monday night to a pit where garbage is burned on the base, according to Zahed, who spoke with five Afghans working at the pit.
He said that when the workers noticed the religious books in the trash, they stopped the disposal process.
I hope Iraq and Afghanistan have taught us a lesson. The next time these savages need to brought to heel we should do it with as much power as we can muster and then leave the survivors to clean up the mess while we get the hell out.
For years I have been thinking the same thing. Set up several hundred feudal states, arm them all to the teeth, sit back and enjoy the show.
The hundreds of feudal warlords would refuse to give up their power, each would seek out more and the whole region could happily go back to the 14th century, or last week, whichever is more primitive.
thanks, have not seen the wire reports yet
thanks, have not seen the wire reports yet
the base is under IDF.
Shooting their wads over a book that probably has a billion copies, I say kill them all, won’t need to worry about their precious Koran being defiled again
have to say I haven’t heard any explosions all day - it’s now 2115
i’m only about a mile from where this went on and drove past that point several times today
By all means do not let any of these people into the USA.
Ron Paul: Highways claim more than 9/11 killedI missed By all means do not let any of these people into the USA, good catch.

I believe that the initial invasion of Iraq was an appropriate use of defensive and retaliatory force. Are you saying that you disagree?
Although I would have done it differently, both in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Flatten the infrastructure
Kill the leaders
Break the countries up on ethnic lines
Set the ethnic groups at each other's throats
The message is pretty clear, F with us, and you personally will die, we will destroy all you hold dear, and your country will simply cease to exist.
Nation building? *spit*
Well my wife has her gear on, been to the bunker twice, the base speakers say they are currently under IDF, our planes are buzzing around, and the all clear signal has not been given yet.
strike that...evidently we’ve been taking IDF for the last hour...didn’t hear it as I had my headphones on watching Red Dawn
lmao...love this place
The Israeli Defense Force? NOW yer talkin'!
It does apparently support your post .... Afghan workers were the ones doing the burning. Sounds totally unententional though.
saying some prayers for your wife
All clear has just been issued. Probably grenades and bullets. The violent stuff was localized which is probably why you did not hear anything.
All this drama over books that were not even burned
Not sure if the books were even burned, maybe, but should of been no cause for riots
In-Direct-Fire = IDF, for those who are ignorant of military jargon (Which I am but I knew that one ;-)
Get all of our soldiers out, then nuke Afghanistan from orbit.
I remember reading about riots in the Sudan. They believed that Jewish inventors were selling cell phones that caused the penises of Muslim men to fall off.
My horses have more common sense in their poop than most Afghans could find in their entire village.
I came back in July 2007. My son got back in December. We both believe that we should pull out with the promise to bomb them into nothingness if they ever cause us any problems.
ABC radio just had a news blurb about this. Apparently some Korans were burned unintentionally. The US military has apologized for it.
Call it the greening of Afghanistan. It's environmental prophylaxis.
HOCKEY PUCKS to all of them. PC will get us all killed.
The military were given the trash to burn by civis.
Doing back-flips and contorting yourself to appease the locals is a horrible strategy.
Create some “poleis” around Afghan, arm them equally, get out, and let them engage in civil wars if a certain polis wants "more". They start crap with us, annihilate the “polis” responsible.
Think OPSEC! You’re posting force protection conditions and placing everyone at that AO “at risk”. Not everyone has the need-to-know. Even the adversaries can have access to this web site, and can exploit this info for THEIR intelligence collection.
ping for later
afghans were blowing their “load” with “rage fire”, people might have loved ones over there, etc... this kind of stuff is almost a daily occurrence which the press conceals because of a (D) in the White House. When winter ends the “rage” gets more intense. Today was intense which is why the press covered the events.
BTW, you must really hate google earth and active duty access to skype.
The "Loose lips..." stuff is fine, but when you are nation building and appeasing locals to the point of trillions wasted and good people dying, those who are deemed expendable by politicians need a voice.
BTW, prayers to you and your family. You are in the middle of the s* as well
pity the direction and thought of those in power brought us to this sand flea dump.
And as soon as clear,
Turn it into a glass bowl.
Then state to the world, the next one is for the next crew that comes a calling.
Whatever the country... the capital of said country shall become a collectors visual for space.
You cannot reason with mindless brain washed rabble. History has taught us this, and it has never been wrong.
Sorry to have to disagree with you publicly, but you put this out here for all to see.
First, I take opsec (and my clearance) very seriously.
Second, everything I posted, from the FLOUR information to what was transpiring on the base can be found via open source.
Third, the estimates run 15-20% of all GIRoA employees (and LN's working as staff for NGO's and all USGov operations, including the bases) are Taliban and/or Taliban-affiliated. Relevance to this discussion - see Fourth statement.
Fourth, the attackers get real-time updates from their compatriots inside our wires. (they don't need this or any other web site)
Fifth, a lot of information that should be disseminated to the public is being withheld from them due to bravo sierra claims of 'opsec.'
Sixth, I have every reason to want to practice opsec, as I will be bringing home some souvenirs from an attack that I would rather not have.
In conclusion, while I appreciate your comments and will choose to believe they were meant with nothing but good will, they are somewhat condescending and offensive, given my circumstances and the facts on the ground here.
