A communist hippy with some really cool machines that share interchangeable parts. His tech is cool, but the doofus blames poverty on "poor distribution of resources". I can see the stuff he is making do a lot of good in third world countries, but at the same time it isn't going to kill capitalism. In fact, he is hindering development of technology and development of the third world by resisting capitalism.

He’s doing more good then harm, because almost anybody with just a moderate level of mechanical skill can build these. That allows somebody, on a subsistence level, increase their level of productivity as they are able.

I thought it was interesting that they used a bob cat to load the material into the hopper for the rammed earth bricks. What happened to the neat little tractor they built. What happens when some one wants a tractor that has a tape player and AC? What happens when some one puts fancy rims and chrome on their tractor then some one else wants fancy braided cable look on the hydraulic hoses? Nice thought but..

Odds are that, a person who lives at subsistence level, is probably not going to be concerned about niceties. He wants to feed his family.

But I get what you’re saying.

If he ever moves beyond subsistence, he may concern himself with small luxuries.
