My phone gives me more of a social life than I would have without it.

I literally won’t eat lunch with most of my co-workers anymore cause they text and talk the whole 30 minutes. Hell some of them text each other and they are in the same room 5 feet away.

That is bad. I wouldn't eat with them, either. Life in the 21st century can still be rich if you let technology stay in it's proper place and live a little.

Last week my wife told me that life with me was very interesting. I took that as a compliment, as she intended for it to be. I try to find neat things to do together in our time that we have recovered by not owning a TV set. We are not anti-tech, we just don't let it consume our lives.

I hate rap, but I have to say that one is ‘right on’.

Nearly every time I go to the store, I have to wait for someone — on a cellphone — to move their cart or their body out of the way of other shoppers. Too many times, they are oblivious to others around them. TAKE THE DAMN PHONE OUTSIDE, IF YOU MUST TALK.

One of the best commercials was the one where one guy drops his cellphone in the urinal and the other guy remarks, as the phoner retrieves it, “Seriously? ... Dude.”

I assume you're kidding, otherwise, I feel sorry for you.

What really makes me less than happy are people who talk on the phone loudly so everyone within earshot can hear what they're saying. Would someone tell me the point of that? I don't care to hear other people conversations, they just aren't that important.

Years ago I had a scanner that would receive cell calls as well as home remote phone calls and I learned one important thing. Their lives are as boring as mine. Plus one of my neighbors was a drug dealer. Using code phrases like, "Are you holding" will certainly throw off any cops who are listening; moron, I hope he got busted for stupidity.

A few months ago, I attended a middle school/high school band Christmas concert (my 7th grade daughter was performing). I saw a guy in another section who didn’t stop texting and/or staring at his phone for the 90+ minutes of music. It really ticked me off because I know how hard the students and the band directors worked for that (and it was an excellent time).

The commericals for whatever phone provider (AT&T, I believe) where the people go ‘that’s so 42 seconds ago’ (or another ridiculously short time frame) to indicate how slow another person’s phone was are just the antidote I need to NOT purchase their products. The people in the commercials never take their eyes off the blasted piece of electronic equipment in their hands.

I don’t hate technogology—one of my favorite gifts I have ever received is a Kindle, but I know it’s no replacement for human beings. I have four kids who will grow up and be gone all too soon—I want to enjoy the moments I have with them and my husband. The gadgets will still be there when they move out.

I'm with you. I was one of the first ones I knew that had a cell phone for my business. I would never give out its number though as I would be charged wherever the call originated so I'd give people my pager number and then call them back.

I like cell phones, they're nice when traveling but there isn't any good reason to be yapping away (loudly) while in line for something. People seem to think their lives are so important or exciting that everyone wants to hear it.

I'm tempted to design a device that overwhelms the phones front end so they get nothing if they're close. I know there's a company in Israel that sells such a device but it's over $1k, or was last I checked.
