Here is the ballot we will see on Tuesday:
No write-ins allowed.
You can either vote for Romney, Paul, or do an "undervote" (choose neither, and click on "Next").
Any recommendations?
I’d vote Paul and encourage all others to do the same.
Can’t think of any thing that would get the point to the GOPEe any better than a Paul victory in VA.
If your still using a ‘paper-less’ voting machine, it really doesn’t matter.
I say vote Ron Paul.
Vote for Paul!
Paul.
I’d stay home, Romney will dominate this one with nary a political ad.
Staying home. No chance I’m giving a vote to loony Ron “Bradley Manning is a hero and a patriot” Paul. Won’t vote for Romney in a primary either.
Paul, Paul, Paul! Deny Romney the delegates!
If I lived in VA, I’d vote for Paul.
Romney may win VA, but every delegate that can be scraped away from Romney helps.
I’m voting for Paul just to jab a stick in the eye of Mitt and the party bosses.
PAUL. He may not win, but he has a chance to embarass the GOP-e.
I’m voting for Paul as a protest
Source: Virginia State Board of Elections on Write-insVirginia election law (§ 24.2-529) does not permit write-in votes for primary elections. No ballot issued during the Republican Primary on March 6, 2012 will contain an area where a write-in name may be included. In the case of electronic voting equipment, the option for a write-in vote has been disabled. In the case of paper ballots, if a name is written in a blank area on a ballot, or a name is scratched through and another is inserted, it will not register as a vote. In no way will defacement of an official ballot be tallied as a vote for any person other than those candidates currently listed.
Virginia law requires that any person appearing on a party's presidential primary ballot receive signatures from at least 10,000 Virginians who are duly registered to vote with a minimum of 400 signatures required from each of Virginia's 11 congressional districts. The Virginia State Board of Elections (SBE) required that these signatures be placed on official petitions which were circulated by Virginia residents, and that these petitions be filed with SBE by December 22, 2011. The political parties in Virginia are responsible for the counting of those petition signatures and the state Republican Party certified to SBE that only two candidates met the requirements for ballot access: Ron Paul and Mitt Romney.
I’m planning on voting for Nor Luap, purely as a protest vote. Even if the fix is in for Mittens, at least I took a stand in the voting booth. . .
A vote for Paul means a vote against Romney. Anything else is a vote for Romney.
I was going to vote for Paul, but after hearing that he sent fliers around to Muslims telling them he would cut off all aid to Israel, I can’t do it. I’ll just do an undervote.
Their boy is Romney, so that necessarily means any real American has to vote for the other guy whoever he is.
Vote Ron Paul because he is not Mitt.
Vote Paul! Operation Chaos II!
Real Americans don’t vote for Romney?
Wow, there’s a bunch of phony USA’ers out there...
Sorry to say,but I may sit this one out.
I’d vote for Paul in the attempt to make sure Romney doesn’t win it.
Of course, Paul, although he is in bed with Romney. If Paul can get a respectible percentage in VA then that’s one more minor win for conservatives on Tuesday. I can’t wait until Tuesday to see what occurs in Ohio.
Good Americans don’t vote for Romney, or Obama, or people like them.
Paul. Definitely.
Present
Yes, real Americans don’t vote for Romney. You got a problem with that?
Dr. Paul [said reverentially and with feeling].
Write in Ken Cuccinelli.
Write in Ken Cuccinelli.
Hold your nose and vote for Paul, solely to take delegates away from Mittens.
I'm Jewish, I'm pro-Israel, and I beg you to reconsider. Paul has ZERO chance to get the nomination; every vote he gets means less chance of Romney getting a simple majority of delegates. I know that voting for the Ronulan is counter-intuitive to say the least, but it's the best thing you can do at this point in time.
If you can’t write-in, and Gingrich isn’t on the ballot, then vote for the doctor, obviously. He may be crazy, but he’s on your side!
See Post #14.
Denying Willard the delegates is the only reason I was going to vote for Paul the lunatic. But, truthfully, I don’t think God would be pleased with me if I cast a vote for someone who so clearly stands with Israel’s enemies.
Question: won’t casting an undervote also serve to deny Romney the Va delegates? I’m asking sincerely, for information.
Truly, I think G-d would understand the idea of strategic voting - after all, mathematics and logic are expressions of His will.
An undervote would be less helpful to Romney than a vote for him, but more so than a vote for Paul. Imagine that there are 5 voters in VA: 2 for Romney, 2 for Paul, and one undecided. Depending of how the undecided voter breaks on Election Day, three outcomes are possible:
U.V. breaks for Romney - R: 3, P: 2. Romney gets 60% of the delegates, Paul gets 40% of the delegates.
U.V. undervotes - R: 2, P: 2. Romney gets 50% of the delegates, Paul gets 50% of the delegates.
U.V. breaks for Paul - R: 2, P: 3. Romney gets 40% of the delegates, Paul gets 60% of the delegates.
Obviously I’m oversimplifying, but it illustrates the point.
Would hold my nose, Vote for Paul and thereby do my small part of thumbing my nose at and giving the finger to the Republican establishment.
So, VOTE FOR PAUL (never thought I’d say that) IN VIRGINIA.
Thank you, SandA.
You’re very welcome.
Just voted for Ron Paul. It wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it might be ... considering the only alternative.
It felt good to cast an “opposition” vote.
BTW ... there was literally no other voter there.
Yeah, I was #2 on their roster for voting this morning. Cast my protest vote for RuPaul.
OF COURSE y’all should vote for Paul, regardless of whether he’s your perfect candidate or not. I’m pretty sure Romney is everybody’s worst candidate, so any vote against him is one that could help deny him delegates and send a big middle finger to the GOP elite.
