The Labor Department will not release its official number until next week, but Gallup is predicting that the agency will report that unemployment rose half a point to 8.8 percent in February. Gallup's Dennis Jacobe explains:
Data from the past two years show that on an unadjusted basis, Gallups and the government's unemployment measurements track fairly closely in both direction and magnitude. ... If we assume the governments unadjusted unemployment rate experienced a similar 0.5-point increase, it would rise to 9.3% in February from Januarys 8.8%. Applying the 0.5-point seasonal adjustment (based on the governments February 2011 adjustment) to the February 2012 unadjusted rate (9.3%) would result in an increase in the U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate to 8.8% in February 2012 from Januarys 8.3%.
Gallup also reports that, according to their polling, the unadjusted U.S. employment rate (as measured without seasonal adjustment) was 9.1 percent in February. Jacobe fully acknowledges that the Obama Labor Department may again "adjust" its survey results to give Obama a lower unemployment number, as it did in January. But Jacobe concludes,"that report will not change the reality in the marketplace."

I will bet the government figures will show unemployment dropping below 7.95% before November election. Please note they do NOT count people who have given up looking for jobs.
But remember, since Jan. 20, 2009, we don’t focus on the unemployment rate any more.
Instead, the focus is on “jobs saved”, “jobs created”, and “jobs saved/created by the stimulus”.
How they measure these new categories is never explained, but, we’re supposed to accept on face value that under Obama’s watch, many jobs have been saved, created, and exist because of Porkulus.
“Funemployment” LOL
As long as the BLS does the counting for Obama, unemployment will never go back up, and the numbers will only keep going down.
8.3% again if not lower. Any relationship real numbers and those being reported by the regime are pure coincidence.
If November 1 with 9.0 Unemployment and 4$+ gas per gallon still re-elects Obama I would close the eyelids of a dead Republic.
Wonder how long it'll take them to use this on gasoline prices?
"At $5.79 a gallon, over 4 million barrels a day were saved or created by destitute jobless Americans. The environment thanks Dear Leader."
I believe jobs saved were union jobs paid for by stimulus. Kinda like Clintoons 100,000 cops program that created less than 10,000 jobs, because it was 1-year funding. After that the police had to pick up the tab. Most small police forces couldn’t afford the mandate.
That 8.8% may be where it SHOULD be.... but the report on Friday will show 8.1% or less. There’s a reelection to be won.
the MSM actually used the word “funemployment” to emphasize the idiocy of being unemployed. They’ll use it again this summer when the elections really heat up
BLS is part of the executive branch.
They'll do what they're told.
Can we be honest here? Real unemployment (including those who’ve stopped collecting unemployment, but are no longer counted by the POS-in-Chief) is really at about 11-15%
Can you believe that the Dems would still brag about 8% unemployment? Remember when unemployment was 5% under Bush and all we heard about was Doom, Gloom and the plight of the unemployed!
Obama and the Dems are POS and should be in prison for the rest of their miserable lives.
Fuel costs go up, the economy slows down, companies shut down, lay people off, stop hiring, and the unemployment goes up.
No worries though, food stamps and unemployment benefit the economy and increase Obama’s voter base.
If November 1 with 9.0 Unemployment and 4$+ gas per gallon still re-elects Obama I would close the eyelids of a dead Republic.
That’s right. We’ll be done, done, done.
In other words the Jobs report won’t be released until AFTER Super Tuesday? Am I getting this right?
Which is why Workforce Participation numbers are the same now as the trough in 1983.
Median goes all the way back to 1978.
Pretty unbelievable - as much of the population works as worked in 1983, and this is just 1 and a half percent over that of the peak in 1955.
I know you are joking around, but if gas is $5.79 a gallon, the enviro-radicals on Obama’s side will be thrilled when less gas is used due to higher prices. Less of those dreaded greenhouse gases to worry about.
Of course, the effects elsewhere in the economy will be severe if gas gets that expensive. But to enviro-radicals, it’s all worth it.
Speaking of greehouse gases, why are the enviro-radicals against nuclear power, when nuclear power plants produce zero greenhouse gas emissions??????
Well, Sebelius said fewer births (due to contraception) saved money on medical expenses. (At that rate if everybody just died right now the deficit would be zero.)
From Bloomberg: To be released On 3/9/2012 8:30:00 AM For Feb, 2012
Nonfarm Payrolls - M/M change + 180,000 to 275,000
Unemployment Rate - Level 8.1 % to 8.5 %
Damn! I’d really like for the media to start including the REAL unemployment figure... the U6, instead of just the U3 that only counts people on the unemployment payroll.
The U6 is everyone unemployed, underemployed, those who have given up on getting jobs and is probably near 20% now. That’s 1 of every 5 people in the age bracket that is considered the “work force” that is lacking a job or just working part time.
5% unemployment of that work force population is historically considered “full employment”, so the U6 rate is about four times as much today. The media wont report this, but just blindly print or say whatever tripe is put out by the White House.
sorry, but have read some articles that unemployment is more like 36%. My nephew was just laid off from the COAST GUARD. he is returning home after being with the coast guard 10 years!!!!!
my nephew was just laid off from the Coast Guard. 10 years! guess our coastline needs no more protection huh?
