Bing is an okay alternative. I switched to it two years ago on Dec. 7, when the Bing page displayed a beautiful yet sobering pic of the Arizona War Memorial in HI, and Google had, as usual, the big donut. The daily Bing pics are beautiful, and movingly patriotic whenever appropriate.
