Did anyone else see the blue-green light shot across the southern sky?

I only saw it for a few seconds dropping out of the black sky at a deep angle. I listened for a crash but heard nothing.

I thought CNN carried some mysterious burst of light in Phoenix captured on a network news story the other night too. Hope it's the rapture. I'm ready.

I have a feeling we’re ALL going to see something coming our way on December 23, 2012 (Mayan prophecy) if we survive the election, that is.

Very funny!

I live in the high foothills east of Sacramento 17 miles SE of Auburn. I’ve sat in my spa and seen shooting stars and even got to see the space station all flying over slowly compared to this.

It was very close and moving incredibly fast!

I can see them towards the west, high in the sky!

This was at a deep 60+ degree angle in the southern sky.

“Half way to Reno from Sacramento.”

Well, you got my location just about nailed
but too many tall pine trees around my house
to see. But if I had to guess I would say that
it could be an interstellar transport shuttle
taking Governor Moonbeam back to the mothership.
We can only wish.

No, didn’t see it, but I’m 150 miles south of you in the Sierra and last Summer I saw a green glowing ball rise out of a remote canyon about a mile away, then zig, zag rapidly back and forth above the mountains before plunging back into the canyon.

They were doing some absolutely stunning early evening conjunctions with the crescent moon a week or so ago. Beautiful!

I was walking out my front door which faces south and I saw it cover from 90 degrees to below the tree line in less than two seconds.

Very large and very bright blue-green, no tail, just a very bright fast moving light.

This seemed so close that after it disappeared below the tree line, I waited several seconds waiting for the sound of an explosion before I told my wife what I saw!

I’ve never seen anything move that fast!

Yeah. I seen something a bit back and reported it "here". I was told it was an Iridium flare.

But on another night about two weeks ago I was out looking for satellites with my binoculars and caught an object traveling at a tremendous speed. It looked closer than a satellite. Maybe a meteor just skimming the atmosphere?

This was moving from high to low, and faster than anything I have ever seen.

I’m waiting for the evening news, maybe they will report something about it.

I want to say it was a meteor but this was extremely close if it was.

Was over ice fishing on Jackson Lake one time and we saw a meteor cruising along the tops of the mountains. In the daytime. I got freaked out when my dad sorta freaked out.

And there was a night some of us saw a green meteor streak across the sky. It was during a meteor shower. Figured that baby was pure copper.

I've got a 'bright lights' story that would knock your socks off, but no one would believe me if I posted it.

What amazed me was how fast it was moving. I’ve see shooting stars move fast but this was brighter and faster which made me think it was much closer!

I think earth just barely avoided a massive collision but I’m no expert.

My wife and I saw one of those go straight over our house during the Leonid shower some years back. Fantastic sight. That thing was hauling ass, smoking and glowing green. Just beautiful.

I am also in the foothills of the Sierra. This light was very bright, had some green & seemed close. It shot down in an arc at a rapid rate. Though for sure there would be something on the local news. So far nothing.

Looked it up. The flame test says that iron would be "gold" and sodium would be "intense yellow" so it was probably one of those, more likely iron.

" The color of many Leonids is caused by light emitted from metal atoms from the meteoroid (blue, green, and yellow) and light emitted by atoms and molecules of the air (red). The metal atoms emit light much like in our sodium discharge lamps: sodium (Na) atoms give an orange-yellow light, iron (Fe) atoms a yellow light, magnesium (Mg) a blue-green light, ionized calcium (Ca+) atoms may add a violet hue, while molecules of atmospheric nitrogen (N2) and oxygen atoms (O) give a red light. The meteor color depends on whether the metal atom emissions or the air plasma emissions dominate. "

But I'm sticking to the copper theory for the one I saw.
