Monckton’s Schenectady showdown
WUWT ^ | March 10, 2012 | Justin Pulliam

Schenectady, NY - THE NEWS that Lord Monckton was to give his “Climate of Freedom” lecture at Union College in Schenectady, New York, had thrown the university’s environmentalists into a turmoil. The campus environmentalists set up a Facebook page announcing a counter-meeting of their own immediately following Monckton’s lecture. There is no debate about global warming, they announced. There is a consensus. The science is settled. Their meeting would be addressed by professors and PhDs, the “true” scientists, no less. Sparks, it seemed, were gonna fly.

Traveling with Lord Monckton on the East Coast leg of his current whistle-stop tour of the US and Canada, I was looking forward to documenting the Schenectady showdown. I have had the pleasure of listening to His Lordship at previous campus events. He is at his best when confronted by a hostile audience. The angrier and more indignant they are, the more he seems to like it....

As they filed in, Lord Monckton was chatting contentedly to a quaveringly bossy woman with messy blonde hair who was head of the college environmental faction. Her group had set up a table at the door of the auditorium, covered in slogans scribbled on messy bits of recycled burger boxes held together with duct tape (Re-Use Cardboard Now And Save The Planet). “There’s a CONSENSUS!” she shrieked.

Lots of good data in the article. We are fortunate to have Monckton doing this tour and confronting the young brains filled with mush.

True and her’s another article:

Temperatures have been dropping since 2005, and are the coldest now in the last seventeen years. Game over for alarmists, based on their own rules.

11-11-03

LIVERMORE, Calif. — In order to separate human-caused global warming from the “noise” of purely natural climate fluctuations, temperature records must be at least 17 years long, according to climate scientists.

To address criticism of the reliability of thermometer records of surface warming, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory scientists analyzed satellite measurements of the temperature of the lower troposphere (the region of the atmosphere from the surface to roughly five miles above) and saw a clear signal of human-induced warming of the planet.

From the picture, the student sow is well insulated and thus should not fear either temperature change or a lack of food.

Thus, I conclude she fears a change in the grant flow.

Therefore, she is a GimmiePig. These swine are found in dangerously large herds and can be found on nearly all of America’s campuses.

Consensus is not science.

Elaborated by Michael Crichton:

In science consensus is irrelevant. What is relevant is reproducible results. The greatest scientists in history are great precisely because they broke with the consensus. There is no such thing as consensus science. If it's consensus, it isn't science. If it's science, it isn't consensus. Period.

Consensus is not science.

Indeed, and there is no consensus either.

Why can’t we have a conservative leader as articulate and knowledgeable at the good lord?

If a reporter tried to Palinize him to look like an idiot, the lord would eviscerate him on camera. WF Buckley did the same on a regular basis. Why are we now stuck with those who can’t do this?

Could be. It is also possible she has a political motivation and is not involved with science and research grants at all. A lot of these enviromental wackos are humanities majors.

Brilliant....

Lord Monckton’s reply was moving. Gently, and sadly, he said, “We shall lose the West unless we can restore the use of reason to pre-eminence in our institutions of what was once learning. It was the age of reason that built the West and made it prosperous and free. The age of reason gave you your great Constitution of liberty. It is the power of reason, the second of the three great powers of the soul in Christian theology, that marks our species out from the rest of the visible creation, and makes us closest to the image and likeness of our Creator. I cannot stand by and let the forces of darkness drive us unprotesting into a new Dark Age.”

And we are still waiting for Algore to go into a hostile setting like Lord Monckton regularly does. Nevermind that he will never debate the good Lord. That alone should raise doubts amongst the green weenies as to the veracity of their beliefs when their lord high god Algore won’t debate the subject. He should be glad to tear into the anti global warming heretics, should he not? It should be easy for him to disprove what they say, right????

Although 'freebilly' has quoted it already, it is worth repeating in a number of places, for Lord Moncton's response to the writer of the article summarizes the genius of America's founding.

"Lord Monckton’s reply was moving. I cannot stand by and let the forces of darkness drive us unprotesting into a new Dark Age.” - (Justin Pulliam is the Northeast Regional Field Coordinator for CampusReform.org. He graduated Cum Laude with University Honors from Texas A&M University in December 2011, where he led the local Collegians for a Constructive Tomorrow Chapter. Here, in America, in just a little moment of time, on one small sliver of land on the globe, a few Creator-endowed individuals, possessing the gift of reason, and utilizing the recorded ideas of history's most enlightened thinkers, created a document which made it possible for the light of liberty to change the world for over 200 years.

In an April 1859 letter to Messrs. Henry Pierce & Others, Abraham Lincoln's final paragraph:

"All honor to Jefferson--to the man who, in the concrete pressure of a struggle for national independence by a single people, had the coolness, forecast, and capacity to introduce into a merely revolutionary document, an abstract truth, applicable to all men and all times, and so to embalm it there, that to-day, and in all coming days, it shall be a rebuke and a stumbling-block to the very harbingers of re-appearing tyranny and oppression."

Finally, Thomas Jefferson's last letter, prior to his death on July 4, 1826, declared:

"May it [the Declaration of Independence] be to the world, what I believe it will be, (to some parts sooner, to others later, but finally to all,) the signal of arousing men to burst the chains under which monkish ignorance and superstition had persuaded them to bind themselves, and to assume the blessings and security of self-government. That form which we have substituted, restores the free right to the unbounded exercise of reason and freedom of opinion. All eyes are opened, or opening, to the rights of man. The general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately, by the grace of God. These are grounds of hope for others. For ourselves, let the annual return of this day [July 4th] forever refresh our recollections of these rights, and an undiminished devotion to them. . . ." – Thomas Jefferson, letter to Roger C Weightman, June 24, 1826
