One poorly worded phrase in a 29-page brochure has created a headache for the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland Clarington Catholic District School Board.
Ann Tesluk, a Bowmanville woman in a same-sex relationship, said one particular phrase in the boards equity guide is homophobic and flies in the face of the boards anti-bullying message.
The passage reads, The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. The passage, from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, goes on to state that members of the lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgendered community should be treated with respect, compassion and sensitivity.
Its the word, disordered, that has Tesluk frustrated, and she didnt mince words as she reacted to it.
Ann Tesluk
It is a disorder, Ann. Grow up and deal with reality.
homosexual agenda ping
Homosexuality is indeed a disorder, not simply physically, but particularly within the confines of the catholic faith, which is what this school is about.. if this woman doesn’t like it, too bad.
She doesn’t want to accept the teachings of the church, that’s fine, but the term is not “disrespectful”, in the context with which it is being used here.
There is a huge difference between being disrespected, and having to hear an opinion you disagree with. They are not the same.
Guilty!
anyone still saying on here that they have no problem with the queer agenda of them marrying needs to get a grip of their lives.
This is another example of the left now making war with Catholics.
You are NOT CATHOLIC IF YOU ARE PRO KILLING BABIES AND HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA. and you certainly are NOT a CONSERVATIVE
Lesbian out of necessity.......
I’ll bet that 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 makes her vomit.
I think the word “perverted” would be better.
Umm, why does this women have her children in a Catholic school if she objects to basic Catholic teaching?
If she’s not Catholic, she should respect the beliefs of her hosts, as she is a guest in the school.
If she is “Catholic”, then she should take up her matter with the Church itself. The school can either (attempt to) inculcate Catholic values in its students or not. If not, why would any serious Catholic parent send their children there?
Isn’t there a Rainbow Academy near where this woman lives? If not, she should start one herself or homeschool, like Catholics who have become disgusted with the public (or sadly, Catholic) schools.
What narcissism! The school needs to change fundamental beliefs to accommodate MY world view!
Still trying to figure out what was poorly worded. Seems straight out of Catholic teaching.
Don’t like the Roman Catholic worldview?
Don’t send your kid to a Catholic school.
It’s not really all that difficult a concept. Even for public school grads.
She looks like one of those ladies who hit Patrick McGoohan (as #6) over the head with her umbrella in the Prisoner for being “Unmutual”.
Still trying to figure out what was poorly worded. Seems straight out of Catholic teaching. If anything, it needs to be tougher.
“Disordered” is correct, and kind.”Perverted” is also acceptable.
On a related note, check out your local public high school’s mission statement sometime. They’re usually laughably contradictory, or so vague as to be applicable to any organization.
IOW, govt schools have no discernible purpose.
