LAFAYETTE, Colo. (AP) -- Police in Lafayette, Colo., have ticketed a man who is accused of tying his cat to a rock after the feline refused to go jogging.

Sgt. Fred Palmer says 19-year-old Seth Franco brought his cat on a leash to the path around Waneka Lake Park on Wednesday, but the cat was unable to keep up.

This man is an idiot.

Cat's don't jog! Their event is the sprint.

Maybe he'd keep up if he used his hind legs too.

Bet the police don’t even know they are part of the cat’s staff. Just about any cat can get themselves out of being tied up if they really want to.

Just checked on my two. They are napping so hard they didn't wake up when I re-arranged them. ;)

They only do that for about 20 hours a day.

But tip-toe in and try to open a can of tuna for MY lunch, and it's 'all hands, battle stations'.

One of my neighbors walked her cat on a leash. I have never seen such and embarrassed, undignified animal in my life. Poor kitty.

Mine actually likes his harness and leash - because he knows that’s the only way he’s getting to go outside.

If left outside alone, he goes out, runs around, looks for a cat to fight and if he can’t find one he goes out in the street and rumbles challenge at cars. Since I don’t want to lose him, it’s harness or nothing for him. (He’s aggressive with everyone else but me.)

That guy needs a pet dog-not a cat! What a dumbass...

One of my four cats-a 20+ lb. mostly-Maine Coon-will walk on a little harness and leash, but only for about 50 ft-after that, he throws himself on the floor/ground and won’t budge.

"What if the cat drove?"

That's probably why he didn't put the cat in the car before finishing his jog.

Tried the catio idea, he wants to be able to run (on his own) and I do mean run. He has a 27’ retractable leash with a 6’ standard leash connected to it, and that seems to be long enough for him usually.

He should have went jogging with his pet goldfish instead. He could have put it right in his water bottle.

My current cat doesn’t care for people food. Now my first cat could hear me pull the ring top off a can, and she was on another floor of the house. I would be in the kitchen and I could barely hear it.

One day I was opening a can of pineapple. She stood there crying until I offered her a chunk. She sniffed it, gave me this looik like I was trying to poison her and left in a huff. I thought that would cure her of responding every time I open a can, but no.

How can an owner jog when the cat is doing figure-8s around the owner's legs? You can't even walk with mine.

I bet Seth would have better luck if he tape recorded the sound of a can opener and looped it for rebroadcast on the jog...and rubbed tuna salad all over himself.
