I love this song- especially Lynne's riff at the beginning!

Almost 40 years old (is that possible?) and still the best cover for Roll Over Beethoven!

The Japanese subtitles certainly make it easier to follow along ;) :)

(I was listening to Traffic’s “John Barleycorn” and “Freedom Rider” today and thinking the same thing about how great music stands the test of time).

Not only best cover, better than the original.

ELO is one of the most underrated groups ever.

Jeff Lynne has a Jerry Lee Lewis lilt in his voice on this song.

I remember when “Glad” was played as the lead in to Channel 2 news in central Florida in the early 70’s.

Not only best cover, better than the original.

I saw the original, Chuck Berry, in person at the Roxy on Sunset Strip in the '70s. It was excellent, but no, there was no "orchestra." Lennon, Lynne and all of us owe Chuck a great debt of gratitude. As George Thorogood always says, "Johnny B. Goode is THE rock n roll 'national anthem!' "

I loved ELO “back in the day”, still do. I played both the violin and cello in school and ELO made it (sorta) cool. I remember teaching myself to play this one and wanting a blue violin ; ) ,

Can't Get It Out Of My Head

And this is a great ELO song too.

I was in a retro mood tonight, listening to some Axe, UFO and Uriah Heep. Love ELO too, especially need her love, mr. Blue sky and don’t bring me down. Good bands all.

I lasted 1:16.

When it comes to covers I look for added value. This is what the Stones did to Chuck Berry (and others), and when they couldn’t, they didn’t release the track.

I was listening to... Ann Murray’s Country Croonin’ album on Spotify the other night and was amazed by the originality of her interpretations of all those standards. Added value, baby!
