Birth control rule won’t apply to all student plans at colleges, White House says
Washington Post ^ | March 16, 2012 | By N.C. Aizenman

[This is a personally written summation piece from multiple news stories and sources.]

In a Friday news dump, the Obama (mis)administration announced that college student health plans covering 4 out of 5 college girls/women must give them free, taxpayer-funded birth control. Even students at most religious schools are included in this new mandate.

The reason Obama cannot require free birth control and abortions for all college girls is due only to what is described as a 'technical defect" in the law, not Obama's desire to adhere to the wishes of the students, parents, or the schools.

The administration justifies this vast overreaching of government power by, for the first time, treating students as "employees" for Obamacare purposes.

Many MSM outlets are trying to hide the basic facts, but the underlying truth is contained in this segment of a story that moved on the AP:

"The Obama administration’s controversial birth control health insurance coverage rule will not apply to a type of plan used by about 200,000 college and graduate students, officials said Friday."

"The administration’s authority to issue the rule stemmed from the 2010 health-care law. Officials said they have concluded that for technical legal reasons the law’s reach does not extend to “self-insured” student plans, meaning those for which a college or university collects premiums directly from students, then uses the pool to pay for their health care."

“At least 800,000 students are in a different class of plan: ones that their school purchases from insurance companies on their behalf. These plans will be subject to the full array of consumer provisions mandated by the health-care law, including the birth control rule — which requires plans for workers and students to cover preventive services including prescription birth control, emergency contraception and sterilizations, with no out-of-pocket charges."

Summation: Of one million college girls, this Obamacare insanity covers 800,000 students, but misses 200,000. That’s 4 out of 5 of our daughters subjected to this immoral mandate.

Bottom line, you and I, those (too few) Americans who pay taxes, will have to pay for free birth control, abortion and all other such "services' for our daughters and granddaughters. We can try to teach them to keep sex sacred for marriage, but then the federal government tells 4 out 5 coeds, screw away, we'll even pay for the consequences.

While we will be forced to pay for this moral travesty, of course, the welfare queens, the AFDC parents, ACORNistas, food stamp “clients” and the other members of the Vast Unwashed pay nothing, because they pay no federal taxes.

When will this insanity stop!

The mandate should be that any women receiving free contraception must, in turn, provide free sex to the most underprivileged men.

Great idea, but then the only men getting free nookie would be those “underprividged” welfare men, etc.

What about us old WMs?

He's an Obamanation causing desolation of a once-great nation.

He's feted by hip-hoppers, baby-terminators and every other odd and strange-agenda group.

I fear he may represent the epitaph of a once-great nation.

It’s a slap in the face to the women in our colleges when he says 80% of them need contraception or abortions. He has little, if any respect for our kids.

Meanwhile, it is my opinion, Zero’s DeathCare will deny care to those over 60 who fail to meet their designated criteria by religion, political affiliation etc.. My opinion is that we will see an American Holocaust as a result.. Never Again is here and, IMO, Obama and his ilk in the Congress designed it that way. They will, of course, exempt themselves along with their Liberal accomplices. History is indeed repeating itself.

I’m starting to think Obama has just been a mouthpiece for the last 3 years for Valerie Jarrett. He doesn’t seem to have a clue as to what he is doing.

Anything is possible with this freak in the White House. But it will not get that far. Americans will revolt sooner than later. The handwriting is on the wall. Face it and join with like minded people and have a plan. obozo is attempting to push, prod, REQUIRE We the People to do his bidding. We should handle ourselves accordingly, and get to the vote in November. obozo will try to prevent this. Stay the course, keep your goals in mind, and vote in November AGAINST this obomination.

I would like to know what has happened to reimbursement for abortions over the past several years. Reimbursement has decreased markedly for lots of physicians in other areas of medicine (sometimes 50% or more for specific procedures and tests). I wonder if abortion docs have been protected from these decreases. I’m not saying this is true. I am just curious.

You are on the right track, but I have a few questions: If 80% of college women who have non-self insured heath plans get free contraception and abortion, doesn't it mean that the remaining 20% are being discriminated against? What about the lesbians in college? Shouldn't they being getting free stuff too? Maybe they should get federal funds equal to the others' free stuff?

What about the men who are under the insured plan...aren't they getting a taxable benefit by not having to purchase contraceptives or pay for abortions? And what about the other, 20% guys who still have to pay? Will there be contraceptive stamps like food stamps for them?

Finally, if sexual relations come under Obamacare, what about food? Seems like not only having free sex but eating the right food is equally necessary to one's health and well being. The First Lady tells us so everyday...kids with improper diets, too much junk food, not enough lobster and caviar to go around. Medical issues, for sure.

Next up: Seniors, their Depends and Viagra? /sarc.

and in other news...

http://www.nursingschools.net/blog/2010/05/10-truly-shocking-stats-on-stds-and-college-students/

During your time in nursing school, you’re bound to run into a few lessons on the dangers of STDs in your patients. But as a college student, have you considered your own risk of STDs? These shocking statistics will show you just how prevalent these diseases really are and how few students are really prepared to safeguard themselves against them.

One in four college students has an STD. If college students think they aren’t at risk of getting an STD, then these are some serious numbers to consider. It is estimated that one in four college students will contract an STD during their time at school. In the larger population, this works out to 50% of people getting an STD at some time in their life. Because of the prevalence of STDs in the college population, students should be extra vigilant about protecting themselves.
Only 54 percent of students regularly use condoms during vaginal intercourse, 29 percent during anal intercourse and only 4 percent during oral sex. These numbers are saddeningly low and perhaps the reason that STD levels are so high among students. While many schools and communities provide free condoms and sexual education courses, many students are not taking advantage or choose not to use the resources they provide and putting themselves at a very high risk for potentially life-changing infections.
A 2004 survey conducted by CDC researcher Dr. Sarah Forhan tested 838 teen girls for four STDs. Of these girls, 18 percent had the Human Papillomavirus, 4 percent had Chlamydia, 2.5 percent has Trichomoniasis and 2 percent had the Herpes Simplex Virus. While some of these STDs are treatable, many are not and will be carried with these young girls and their sexual partners for life. Most, if not all, women in the study were unaware that they had an STD.
Overall, the CDC estimates that 19 million new sexually transmitted infections occur each year, almost half among 15- to 24-year-olds. College is a time when many young people choose to explore their newfound freedom. Part of this can be engaging in potentially unsafe sexual situations. Perhaps that is why STD rates are so much higher among teens and young adults than they are with any other age group. It’s a powerful statistic to keep in mind for those entering the college dating scene.
80% of people who have a sexually transmitted disease experience no noticeable symptoms. This often means that since they have no reason to believe that anything is wrong with them they will be unlikely to visit a doctor to be checked out, allowing them to transmit the disease to other partners. Students need to keep in mind that just because you can’t see the effects of an STD doesn’t mean it’s not there.
One study of college students showed that in 91 percent of women with new HPV infections, HPV became undetectable within two years. HPV is the number one sexually-transmitted disease on college campuses. It might be the number one disease, but the majority of those infected with it won’t have any actual signs of carrying the disease, even though it can still be transmitted to another partner. Some HPV infections resolve themselves, but other kinds can cause genital warts and cervical cancer. Students should take advantage of HPV vaccines, now widely available, to help protect themselves.
Over 45% of college freshmen who have been binge drinking and under the influence of alcohol failed to consider the usage of contraceptive aids when engaging in sexual intercourse. 15% of these students contracted and/or spread STD’s amongst other college students with 7% of these infected students unaware of their condition. Many times, alcohol can play a big role in unsafe sexual practices, especially with college students. Students should avoid binge drinking if they want to be extra careful about reducing their STD risk.
More than half the participants in a study done among college students believe they can tell if someone has an STI just by looking at them. As we’ve seen in other statistics on this list, that’s simply not the case. The vast majority of people with STDs have no idea they have them because they have no symptoms of the disease. No matter how someone dresses, acts or looks, there is no way to physically tell with a reliable degree of accuracy whether or not someone has an STD just by looking. Even if there were, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
87% of men know how to use a condom correctly and 70% believe men should carry a condom at all times “just in case, but only 60% of women know how to use a condom correctly and a whopping 60% also say they would still have sex even if their partner refused to wear a condom. This is a case where women have to step up and protect themselves from STDs. Most college campuses offer classes that will teach women about safe sex, condoms and how to protect themselves. Of course, it is also important to learn that some partners, even those you really like, aren’t worth having unprotected sex with if it puts you at risk of getting an STD.
As much as 60% of women in the same survey reported that they are in committed relationships while only 38% of men reported the same. Relationships can be tricky things to define, and if you’re in one, you want to make sure that both you and your partner are on the same page when it comes to where you stand. You might think you’re only sleeping with each other, but the reality could be very different and very scary.

Lots of health plans have been covering Viagra—that’s what originally led to the push to have prescription birth control covered as well.

He wanted 100%, but missed 20% due to what the Obamistas call a “technical defect” in the law.

In addition to everything else, we are teaching the best and brighter that there are no consequences tk their actions, and there are no morals, no ethics.

The administration justifies this vast overreaching of government power by, for the first time, treating students as "employees" for Obamacare purposes.

They likely justify that because all student loans are under the aegis of the Fed. Govt. these days, through Sallie Mae.
