LONGWOOD, Fla., -- Wildlife officials in Florida said a woman walking her dog was bitten on the rear end by a black bear.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Joy Hill said the woman was walking her dog at an apartment complex on Sable Drive in Longwood around 7 a.m. Friday when the bear attacked, the Orlando Sentinel reported Friday.
The woman sustained four puncture wounds to her rear end and was taken to Florida Hospital Altamonte for treatment, Hill said.
Hill said wildlife officers are setting traps for the bear, which they plan to euthanize.

Longwood is about 20 miles north of Orlando in Central Fla.. The Wekiva River area is loaded with bear. The UPS guys say they see them in the trees all the time on their routes. I wanted to grow watermelons here this year but I fear the bears would be attracted so did not plant any. I put Pine Sol on the rug on my porch to deter the bear and it seemed to work! He had been after some cat food and I put that away.

We were in that area a few years ago, maybe a little north actually. We went near Ocalla to pick up a Jack Russel Terrier. Beautiful country but I don't like bears, glad we don't have them here.
