Anyone else addicted to Sons of Guns?
I like the guns but the acting is only so-so.
Yeah, I really like it.
Why’s that? Those Sons of Guns guys are way up north in Baton Rouge ;-)
Why does everything they shoot, blow up???
I used to enjoy it. Then at the end of last season on the chopper mounted gun episode it went off the tracks for me.
I don’t guess I have ever seen it.
I think they do that to make the customer happy.
Oh yea. Gotta love crazy Cajuns with high explosives.
Tannerite. It makes range time fun.
she is very attractive to me. she is a real female w class, not a fluzy or slut.
he father is my type of guy.
I enjoyed that episode. It would be a pretty cool skill to have.
I really like the show.
I do wonder how long they’ll be able to wing it without a ‘real’ gunsmith since that Vince guy left. Though I don’t like how he went about leaving, I can’t blame him for doing so, because from what we saw on the show, the owner was really treating him like shit. I enjoyed watching him go back in and briefly work during the most recent episode.
The guy that married the owner’s daughter is dumber than a box of hammers, so I’m sure he won’t be the one taking his place. From what I see of the show right now, if I needed a gun worked on, they wouldn’t be on my list of shops I would call. It’ll be interesting to see how it all turns out.
It is like OCC I loved to see how they come up with the concepts and seeing them make the build but I can totally do without Sr.'s over the top fit throwing each build. As a matter of fact I got so burned out on Sr that for two years I quit watching totally. I checked out a couple of episodes before the 3 way build off and it was the same old same old with Sr bitching about Jr and he was not even a member of OCC anymore.
So now I DVR American Chopper but FF through OCC parts and watch Paul Jr.s builds for the inovation and problem solving.
Will is an asshat.
They put tannerite in it
Tannerites cool but dont blow things up with it, you don’t know where the shrapnel will go.
And dont be idiots like the redhat guys and take that **** to the airport
These clowns break every rule there is every show.
LOL. It’s better than watching re runs of mob wives no?
better than VH1
What happened with Vince?
I lost interest in the show ages ago because Will is an asshat
In real life Will lost his FFL because he is an asshat and Vince had to run the company in the interem.
Then I see the show and they say Vince is persona non grata.
Will is an asshat.
Ive never seen Mob wives
VH1 beats MTV!
I havent seen either in decades.
It’s. Worse than anything you will fathom.
And whos that dingus thats boofin Wills daughter?
I would have givin that guy his walking papers.
He ****s more **** up than you could ponder.
Well, thank God I have the good sense to steer clear of Mob wives!
Interesting weapons. But the notion non military services are getting them for use in civilian venues is not my idea of a good thing.
That also pisses me off.
Vince left after the owner was being an ass to him, more often than I would put up with. There wasn’t a singular incident that lead to a blow up. I think it was just a cumulative thing over time, and Vince just reached a point to where he had enough.
I just disliked how he went about leaving, though it appeared to be spontaneous. The owner and others were out in Nevada. The owner was abusive to Vince on the phone, so he just up and left without any notice at all. It really put the shop in a difficult spot. If you run a business, I guess it really doesn’t pay to treat your truly talented people like crap. lol At the same time, it probably isn’t good for your future job prospects to quit a job without notice on worldwide television. With his talent though, I don’t think he’ll have a problem at all finding another job gunsmithin’.
lol The Discovery Channel will probably give Vince his own show, or get him to run a shop of his own, and get something like the drama of the American Chopper show going with them having rival gun shops.(that WOULD be some good fun)
My favorite show is Pawn Stars.
I just dig it
I always learn shit, and Rick is a gun bug too
They get the coolest guns in there and Rick is always like “I cant wait to shoot this thing”
Then if the thing is iffy he says “OK Chum, test this thing out” LOL
I also like that Rick and the boys are dirt rat bikers at heart.
The old man is a riot as well.
As I understand it, in real life Will lost his FFL when he couldn’t account for 10 full autos and Vince had to run the place in the Interim.
The next time I watched Vince is the bad guy and banished.
Red Jacket got their balls in a vice when they pulled a truck load of pyrotechnics up to the curb in the white zone at a airport.
Then they lecture us “don’t try this **** at home kids, we be professionals”
Who is stupid enough to take a truckload of pyrotechnics to the airport?
They make us look bad.
Ill say this, a good gunsmith will have no problems finding work
These guys have degrees and are artists to boot, then they have a knowledge of history that’s amazing.
they aren’t just wrench monkeys.
I think Will is an asshat.
As an old body and fender guy, with a box full of hammer's, I resent that remark, my hammer's made me a helluva lot of money. end of sarc. ;-)
The show could use a welder, not some Tig Welding Queen. By Welding Queen, I mean someone who just sits on a chair and Tig weld's small part's, i.e., part's less then 3/16." Had they had a certified welder when the were restoring that Mortar Rocket Launcher, they simply get a piece of similar tube / pipe stock, cut & replace, maybe an hour to an hour and half worth of work, with what is called a "Full Penetration Weld."
Using 0.45 to 0.65 Flux Core Wire, with a shielding Gas 75% Argon, 25% Co2. Because of the location of the weld in reference to what would of been needed to be replaced on the Mortar Rocket Launcher, I wouldn't bother to run gas inside the pipe while welding, so as to have a smooth bore. It was so close to the end, that if a smooth bore was necessary, just put it (Mortar Rocket Launcher Tube) on a lathe, cut/clean up the weld (inside the tube) your, done. NEXT (item to be welded)!
lol Maybe you should go and work for them. They could most likely use you!
I like the show. But the Owner of the Gunshop is as Narcissistic as hell. Its all about him.Its not about the talented guy’s he has working for him,or even his daughter for that matter.
To old and very settled in my home to even think about moving. You might want to e-mail them the Phone Number for the Red Cross, from where I’m watching, they need all the help they can get.
The Type 99, like all Oerlikon guns, does not use a locked breech (like a .50 machine gun). Instead, it uses very heavy coil springs and is blowback operated using advanced primer ignition as an operating principle. TIMING is extremely crucial to the operation of this gun because the chambered cartridge fires as the bolt closes. The inertia of the forward moving bolt and driving springs keeps the breech sealed until the chamber pressure drops to safe levels.
Oerlikon guns, including the Type 99, do not have primary initial extraction (to loosen the fired case in the chamber). Instead, the bolt begins to recoil with a jerk that can, and has, ripped the back off cartridge cases. There are two ways to prevent this: (1) use oil or grease to lubricate the cartridge to prevent sticking (Oerlikon) or (2) cut longitudinal flutes in the chamber mouth to float the front of the cartridge case on burning propellant gas (Tokarev SVT-40 and H&K G3).
There was no discussion on the show of whether the ammunition for the Type 99 was LUBRICATED. If it wasn't there was a good bet that the fired case would have stuck in the chamber and had its case head ripped off. This would not be too much of a problem if only one round was fired, but it would have been a problem for a second round. Unless they were shooting inert TP ammunition, 20mm HE is NOT bore-safe and it could detonate in this kind of jam. Will Hayden was completely right in stopping his guys from firing the Type 99.
Trivia about the Oerlikon guns. It requires approximately 450-500 pounds of force to cock this gun due to its massive springs. On naval mountings, such as the Mk 10 tripod mountings aboard the USS KIDD (DD-661) shown on an earlier program, there was a cocking bar. To cock the gun, the gunner attached the cocking bar to a stud on the side of the gun and jumped up onto the gun's shoulder rests to use his body weight to cock the gun. If he was too small in stature or weight, the loader would push up on the barrel as the gunner was using his weight on the shoulder rests. In the episode with the Type 99, that is the reason why they fitted it with the two long steel bars on the front sides of the gun — to help cock it!
Say what you want about him but ... Will is an asshat. lol
I love the guns but the “drama” made me quit watching. Same thing with Top Shots. Just can’t stand the drama queens!
Vince is a good gunsmith with a anger management issues.
Very temperamental.Gets upset and starts throwing things around or walking out.
OTHO Kris is a likeable guy with no gunsmithing talent.
I think when Kris and the daughter married Will pretty much stated that Kris was going to be top dog, bypassing Vince.
Can’t blame Vince for traveling.
Don’t know if you’ve watched a new show, Top Guns.
Colby Donaldson , the host of Top Shots, get together with experts and wrings out different guns.
I’ve had reservations concerning Colby but in this show he comes across as a really nice humble guy.
Pits his marksmanship against the guests, and usually loses.
I DVR the show and FF through the fluff.
Makes the show about 30 min. long.
Check out Top Guns, good show w/o all the whining.
>>...and Vince just reached a point to where he had enough...<<
They way Will treats his people says a lot about how little-minded he is. He lacks the temperament for the position he has been lucky enough to find himself in.
I see his management style more often that I would like and I’ve (personally) developed a tolerance/immunity to it. I’ve heard that management style called “Lowering The Fences”. Management keeps “lowering the fences” thru piss-poor people management that the best horses start jumping over for greener pastures — leaving the nags who couldn’t clear the top rail.
Hearing about Vince’s leaving (I haven’t watched in awhile). isn’t surprising at all. Hope he gets his own shop — he seemed to have a decent head on his shoulders.
One thing I really like about Top Shots is that they bring back top shooters from Top Gun series like Jaimie and Daryl Parker. Both these guys seem like class acts. Jamie, for example, was a rescue swimmer plus and he was belittled by the seasons ego queens. And Colby has a very likeable personality as he’s humble and loves to shoot. For pure entertainments I watch ‘fps Russia’ on YouTube.
I’ve seen a few episodes but I don’t watch it as much as I watch Pawn Stars, Auction Hunters, Mythbusters or Weaponology.
She is a cutie, but Paige on the “American Guns” show is HOT! I can only say that because she turned 18 this year.
The fact that her Parent’s raised her to appreciate the Second Amendment and Firearms is a plus, just like the gal on Sons of Guns.
BTW - The Mother on American Guns ain’t bad either. She passed on her “attributes” to the Daughter.
Now I feel like a dirty old man, not that there’s anything wrong with that. I just appreciate Women with integrity. cough, cough...
