Haney says Woods has a distaste for the likes of Vijay Singh, Ian Poulter and Sergio Garcia. Woods prefers a more reserved character, according to Haney and collaborator Jaime Diaz. Haney also writes of being afraid to even ask Woods for a popsicle from his refrigerator.

In regard to Phil Mickelson, Haney writes Woods felt his American rival was phony and received more favorable media coverage - perhaps motivated by racial bias.

GOLF PING

Wow, I'm a bit put off that even the greatest athlete of our era has to play the race card because the press didn't kiss is brooding ass.

Apparently he didn't have much warmth for his wife either.

I’m sure a lot of golfers resented the TigerWorship (tm) that was everpresent for 6-7 years.

*checks calendar to see if it's April 1 yet*

These people cannot be serious. Tiger got the most intense media tongue-bathing of any athlete in history before the Elin golf club incident.

Nice cop out. Phil has been always nice to the fans and never cheated on his wife and kids. Tiger has always been a stuck up Diva.

“greatest athlete of our era”

Not to belittle his skill, but golf is not athletic. It is
in the same category as billiards and bowling.

I can’t recall off-hand anyone in the sports world ever getting the positive press coverage that Woods got especially since he is in a sport which is not one of the more popular ones.

Even Rush slobbered all over his ass for a long time.

“I’m sure a lot of golfers resented the TigerWorship (tm) that was everpresent for 6-7 years.”

Obviously. The US has the largest per capita golfer in the world (my PGA handbook says so lOL). Now that Rory McIlroy is # 1 in the world, no American golf nut gives a damn. The last star of the golfing world is Woods and he’s the reason why people tune in.

Now when I talk about “stars” , I don’t talk about “manufactured stars” like say, George Clooney. Like what an agent recently told me here in L.A., “If George Clooney is such a star, how come his movies have been box office flops?” The logic is simple, if you are a movie star, people PAY and watch your movies but in his case like Sean Penn, no one watches them except for liberal morons.

As someone who is not a golf fan, I agree. I had nothing but good feelings about the guy, all due to the media portrayal of him. Didn’t feel the same about his dad, though.

"golf is not athletic. It is in the same category as billiards and bowling."

Either you've never tried to play golf, or you don't know much about athletics.

That’s an age old argument. What is indisputable is that tiger is a selfish, selfcentered, unsympathetic, *sshole.

The “greatest athlete of our era” keeps his tiny brain in his balls. He is also devoid of humility and is a misogynist. Otherwise he was great at golf but that’s about it. Ok he can be a jackass too. Race? I never noticed that to be an issue. I have zero respect for a guy like that. It’s all about him.

Golf is athletic? Explain Colt Nost, Tim Herron, the Stadlers, ... . Shall I go on?

Do you think these people could run for a bus? I doubt it.
