Edwards campaign told to repay $2.1M (He's having another bad hair day)
Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | March 17, 2012 | Tom Breen

John Edwards' defunct presidential campaign has less than a month to pay back $2.1 million in public matching funds to the U.S. Treasury, according to a Federal Election Commission decision unsealed Friday that upheld the panel's earlier finding.

The commission batted aside arguments made by lawyers representing Edwards. They contended that the money in question was properly used during the campaign, and that problems with the commission led to an incorrect finding that the former Democratic vice presidential nominee received more money than he was entitled to.

"After careful consideration, the commission determines that none of these arguments has merit," the commissioners wrote in the document, dated Tuesday.

Lawyers for Edwards' campaign committee maintained it was wrongly denied its full share of public funding during the campaign, but they won't contest the commission's decision.

"While the committee disagrees with the commission's determination, it will not pursue this matter further," said Patricia Fiori, one of the lawyers representing Edwards' campaign committee in the case.

Edwards, who as Sen. John Kerry's running mate in 2004 narrowly lost that election to the Republican ticket, saw his political career collapse in 2008 after revelations of an extramarital affair with a campaign videographer.

The FEC case is separate from a pending criminal trial. Edwards has pleaded not guilty to charges of violating campaign-finance laws in a bid to cover up that affair with Rielle Hunter, who later gave birth to Edwards' child.

Crooked, disgraced and despicable John Edwards afforded himself another resume enhancer in the Democrat party. I hope this ambulance-chasing scumbag ends up eating from trash cans and living in poverty among the 43 million Americans he exploited for personal and political gain.

Prediction - when this finally plays out - he won’t have paid any money. One reason for this is that undoubtedly there’s no money there.

$2.1 Million Dollars For A Romp With Rielle

(Edwards should have thrown her a few bills to buy some birth control)

She hasn’t aged well - a trend that will, in all likelihood, continue. She already is starting to look like a homeless meth addict. Just imagine how she’ll look when she really is one!

Why pick on Edwards and leave the Obama fund raising in 2008 and even now uninvestigated?

Just think - If events had taken a different turn she might have become First Concubine of The US.

We would have COTUS to go along with POTUS and FLOTUS.

I thought of that (how history might have turned out different). At first I thought - wow - the National Enquirer changed history. Then I thought - OK - but this is really the clinton machine - which sort of puts things in perspective.

Agreed,

The point is not that Edwards doesn't deserve his just deserts. He does.

But so many others who are guilty of equally bad or much worse conduct escape scrutiny and punishment.

There is no question Edwards has hurt many people.
But his crimes and transgressions are minuscule when compared with the despicable Clintons and, even more, the intentionally destructive Obama.

Hey, what happened to all the Democrats who adored Edwards? You mean they haven't rallied to his support?

Disloyal, self-interested ingrates!

(Would anybody expect anything else?)

True dat. It’s always about the politics more than about the “crime”. They all have skeletons in abundance - it’s who can keep them all locked up while they’re in the game.
