Michonne’s gory Walking Dead backstory revealed in the latest issue of Playboy

Photobucket

Stoic, sword-wielding Michonne is one of the greatest characters in The Walking Dead comic series, but before the zombie apocalypse, she was an ordinary lawyer who used swords for fencing rather than chopping off limbs. The new issue of Playboy features a six-page comic that reveals the precise moment Michonne became a badass. Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard made the short comic "Michonne's Story" for the April 2012 issue of Playboy, which just came out yesterday. It's a quick trip down memory lane with a very different Michonne, one who panics at the sight of walkers, but we get the highlights: how Michonne gets her katana, the fate of her boyfriend and her friend, and the gruesome decision she makes to survive. It's hardly a must-read. It doesn't offer much insight into Michonne's character and doesn't reveal much we don't already know, but if you're a huge Michonne fan, it's worth a gander.

The Hollywood Reporter has the first two pages of the comic, so you can decide if it's worth heading to your local purveyor of dirty magazines and assuring the clerk that you're only buying it for the comics.

More evidence (as if any were needed) that Hollyweird is run by sickos.

Love Daryl, but Rick’s a close second-—the man gets no respect-—and I like Glenn and Hershel. Carl is an annoyance who can always be trusted to pop up at the wrong time.

After last night, Lori proved herself to be a two-faced witch. I knew something wasn’t right last week, when Shane was up on the windmill and she was looking at him like she was starving and he was a pork chop.

I haven’t read any of the comics, but so far The Walking Dead has been very realistic (yes, even with zombies). After seeing the Michonne character last night, I hope they don’t go too far into some “superhero” type stuff.

There was that, but there’s also the fact that the series creator Robert Kirkman doesn’t giving a flying flip who he kills. Fwiw Shane dies pretty early in the comic. And others will die as well big characters too.

I think they're keeping Lori around for one reason:

In season 3, her baby will be still-born, as a teensy-weensy zombie (a la "Dawn of the Dead" [2004]), and bite her on the way out.

Oh, and it will look just like a little "Shane", big shnozz and all.

Yeah, Lori proved herself to be a real nasty piece of work. That windmill scene basically set Shane off. All Lori had to do was shut up and leave things be, but noooooooo, she had to go and light a fire under an already bad situation (which she helped to cause in the first place). I hope Lori gets eaten.

I was glad to see Andrea survive. She was a basketcase through much of the series, but the latter half of this season she seems to have gotten it together.

I read the comic, no superhero stuff. Just a great gritty drama with zombies.

I hope that Fluke Lori is the next one to die. She finds out that Shane tried to kill Rick and she gets mad at Rick for defending himself and ridding the group of an unstable psychopath?

LOL, yes, I want her gone, too. She HAD to know you don't tell an obsessive guy like Shane "It's over, get a grip" and then turn around and do what she did last week. I think she was playing both ends against the middle, keeping Shane interested in case Rick died (and maybe hoping he would).

I agree. She was a valuable member of the group, and I hope she meets up with them again.

No offense but Carl and rick should have been weakened enough when injured badly to turn. Both almost died, lost a lot of blood.

Yeah, and even worse - not more than an episode or two previous to this Lori flat out told Rick that Shane couldn't accept the situation, was dangerous and had to be dealt with. So Lori goes and inflames the situation, and then gets all pissy with Rick for having to kill Shane? Yeah, I don't like Lori at all and will be rooting for her to be eaten!

It could be attitude. Female lawyers tend to be the attack dogs instead of gentle negotiators, especially in family law and “justice” areas.

How does a baby get infected in the womb of a living mother with the zombie virus?

Her response was very shocking. What was Rick supposed to do, sacrifice himself?

And she seriously needs to stop coddling that boy of hers.

They’re all infected.

That’s why Shane turned w.out being bitten.

Lori even fails at coddling her kid. In the last couple episodes alone, Carl managed to steal a gun and wander off into the woods and attempt to confront a zombie (which may have gotten Dale killed), mill around the farm and end up in the barn when Rick was about to off the kid they captured, and finally meander so far away he got to where Shane was planning to kill Rick.

Lori just sucks. I will applaud when the walkers devour her.

There seems to be a theme that people heal far more quickly on the show than is realistic (Carl, Rick, Randall, Shane -- his ankle). Probably just sloppy writing, but it could be that the infection speeds up recovery in some way.
