(CNSNews.com) - Former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania beat former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts by a margin of 22 points in the Republican presidential primary held in Louisiana on Saturday.

For the future of the Republican party, it's time for Romney to step aside, for a better candidate.
Perfect! : D
Brokered Convention, let the GOP know who is still in charge. Add a strong Tea Party contingent and you have a new direction already started.
Go NEWT/SARAH!
Two thumbs up!
Bitter clingers really shouldn’t count, don’t ya think?
Thinking about California and I think its time to remind Californians that no one has done more than Mitt Romney to unleash gay marriage on America.
Plenty of Californians aren’t real happy that they voted against gay marriage only to have the court overturn their will. They need to be reminded of what Romney has done.
The bad news for Romney is the makeup of Louisiana voters. Urban/rural, aggie/industrial not enough finance and insurance workers to tip the scale in his favor. If Rick gives him the beating he so soundly deserves in PA he should drop out for the good of the nation. He won’t win TX, might not win WI, will have really only Ohio, Florida and Virginia to hang his hat on, and Virginia was a set-up for him, in primary states, and no majority in any of these.
He’ll win in NY and CA, so what? He won’t in the general.
Hell win in NY and CA, so what? He wont in the general
**
This is the money quote. It’s the fact that the GOP-E refuses to recognize. Either that, or they know full well what they’re doing and know damn well they’ve propped up another loser.
Why on earth do you think Rick Santorum can win in the general election? It is mi d boggling to me that most here believe that when you are so clearly in the minority.
Oh the GOP-e recognizes. They expect, however, that all the traditional Republican states in the South will fall in line will support Romney in the General over Obama, so in their opinions, Romney could get blown out 99-1% in a place like LA, and they still wouldn’t care because at the end of the day, the expect GOP voters to support Romney.
This is why voting for Romney is a dangerous proposition in the General. It will give the GOP-e only more fuel for shoving RINOs and Moderates down our throats.
The nominating contest needs to be tilted in the following ways: Make the Traditional Republican states WTA and the Moderate/Liberal states proportional based on the Statewide vote, not CD. You do that, a conservative might actually win the nominating contest.
The point is not the general election.
The point is the primaries.
Romney’s not winning enough to clinch the primary.
He should withdraw.
Romney is done. He should withdraw.
Its real simple. Romney is winning Obama strongholds he can’t possibly defeat Obama in during the general election. In the mean time Romney has repeatedly insulted conservative traditionally conservative areas.
Now we hear that he will “reset” and run as a moderate which means he’ll push conservatives even further away.
So we should support choir boy who lost his home state by 18 points in 06.. What has choir boy done in the Senate that would be considered conservative??
None of the candidates left would have been in my top 10 going into this election cycle. But were stuck with what we got. Santorum comes closest to my conservative credentials, but Obama would slaughter him, I have no doubt on that.

Hildy....please don’t tell me that you are a Romney supporter. He is winning states that Obama is guaranteed to win. It is either Santorum or Romney....pick your poison. Have a great Sunday!!!
In case I was being too subtle, my point in posting this was to stop infighting between Gingrich supporters and Santorum supporters.
And focus on the person who’s orchestrated all the infighting all through this process:
Romney.
Romney should quit, get out of the way, and let real Republicans win.
Romney is the problem.
Santorum wins a State that he was projected to win, and that means Romney is done? Youre joking, right? Do you realize the percentage of delegates left that Santorum has to win to win the nomination? If Santorum follows it up with a win in Wisconsin, followed by gaining the majority of the delegates on April 24 (NY, Penn, Del, Conn, RI). Then maybe there is a hint that the tide is turning, but that is highly unlikely.
Romney is done.
A spoiler, who is damaging the GOP.
He should stand down.
Unfortunately, Romney IS more of what I consider a “real Republican.” Like Rush said, the Repub party is not conservative by nature——it’s a moderate party that barely tolerates its conservatives.
Tell me what has Choir boy done in Senate that was consider Conservative???
Mitt Romney has done nothing conservative.
Thanks for asking.
>>...They expect, however, that all the traditional Republican states in the South will fall in line will support Romney in the General over Obama...<<
That’s probably a safe bet. I’m no Romney supporter, but here in Dixie, I recognize that the south is (unfortunately) *NOT* full of freepers. Folks will vote for whoever is on the GOP side of the ballot. Far and away, the biggest motivator is to rid the country of Obama and they will most likely vote for anyone/anything to accomplish that goal. I guess it should not be surprising as it seems that’s how Romney is getting his votes: All I hear is folks have been fed the “most electable” line by the MSM and that’s enough to get them to pull the lever for Romney. I have yet to hear anyone supporting Romney based on his positions... Just that they are convinced he’s “most electable”.
This just reinforces the observation that the MSM wields an incredible amount of influence over the majority of the voting public. We desperately need to increase the conservative voice in the MSM somehow.
You likely are misinterpreting my post. I do NOT believe Santorum can win in any general election. I’m a Newt supporter.
YOUR DONE MITT. TIME TO DROP!
So what you are saying is conservatives no longer can win any
election and need not try. Only mushy liberals with focus group
platitudes need apply. It sounds like we are welcome in the party
but we need not expect to have any say or input. Makes me feel
really wecome.
Does anybody from the GOP-e realize that, overall, the only states Romney wins are those that are “Safe Democrat” in November? Florida and Ohio are the only two exceptions I can think of.

OK, I’ll bite...WHAT BETTER CANDIDATE? They all suck.
Yes, they do.
IMO the best solution is a dark horse at a brokered convention. And the only way to get there is for Santorum & Gingrich to deny Romney enough delegates.
Can they siphon off enough? I'm not sure.
He's gonna take a dive so fast after the nom it's gonna make heads spin!
C'mon Mitt, Tell us AGAIN how much you hate poor people, unless you're firing them.
Mitts connection to the R party in his own words.
Romney-the-RINO doesn't get 1/2 of Republican voters, ANYWHERE. When he gets 40% or more, it's Cross-over Democrats who vote for him in the Primaries, and will vote for Obama in the General.
GOPe don't give a shit about the Country, they care about the Lobbyists, Special Interests, and the Power to control.....using the fools who vote for whomever they are GIVEN as a Candidate.
When a Conservative shows strength, the Smear Machine goes into overdrive, and the gullible BELIEVE what they're told by "anonymous sources", or agenda-driven/paid for stooges who embelish non-stories that can be used to drive the Conservative out.
At this point in the game. The so called “choir boy” is helping us defeat the RINO from getting the needed delegates. Rick and Newt cannot win individually anymore. Their goal and our goal should be to defeat the RINO.
Romney continues to lead the delegate count by far and may still outright win the nomination. However, as Newt says, "A nominee that depresses turnout won't beat Barack Obama."
That's a real concern for Romney but also Santorum where his "big win" in Louisiana had light turn out. Louisiana Secretary of State stats put it around 24% of eligible registered Republicans.
Because R. Santorum is at least somewhat conservative-unlike Romney and certainly much better than Obama. That’s why.
If Santorum runs a conservative general election, he can win.
We know Romney won’t.
Why do you ask? Who's your candidate Hildy? Still rooting for the ever-electable Bachmann?
“Whiter shade of FAIL.” I like it.
That’s good!
Love it! But how about Sarah / Newt?? be vocal... anything can happen if it get’s to a brokered convention...

My candidate now is the one who can beat Obama. And that is Romney. He is going to be e nominee, not Santorum. Am I happy about Romney? Not particularly. I can’t stand Santorum. I am not alone in this. He is not the one. He cannot win. I supported Bachmann in the beginning, but she was unelectable as well. We have what we have. Romney is going to get the nomination and he will beat Obama.
I’m “trying to peddle” stopping this moronic sibling rivalry between the two actual Republicans, and turning all that opposition energy toward Romney.
How about it. You in?
That “big win” turned out to be a difference of 5 delegates. What happens when Santorum loses Pennsylvania?
Neither has Santorum, who spent 16 years in the Senate as a back bencher. He was never a leader, he was always following the lead.
Everyone who's ever read your posts knows this is BS. You pretended to support Bachmann because she was an unelectable female conservative alternative to Sarah Palin, whom you despise. You've been in the tank for Romney all along. Every show of support you've made for anyone else has been a ruse. You and I both know it, and you and I both know you'll never admit it.
