No. Two officers shot same time as they saw man reaching for waistline however many suspect now he couldn’t run in his baggy pants and was merely pulling them up as he ran... The original victim is now being accused of lying about the gun these thugs used to rob him. So criminals w/o guns should never be shot. That’s the debate this week.
Can't recall what they called it, there was a slang phrase, but at one time some police officers carried a cheap pistol to place next to the body of someone they shot who turned out to be unarmed. Not at all advocating that behavior but it was known to happen. In this case who's to say the deceased did not dump his gun or knife under a bush when he heard sirens?
PS: Running from cops as one reaches toward one's belt is as much an act of suicide as jumping off a tall building.
It's more than an accusation. According to the article, the original victim has admitted to doing so, apparently because he felt the police would respond quicker if he told them they were armed.
