Vanity: Primary Challenge Romney in 2016 if he does not govern as a Conservative

Posted on 03/30/2012 8:33:52 AM PDT by Thunder90

So if Romney wins the primary, we need to support him. However, us Freepers have many reservations about the guy. So, in exchange for our support, conservatives reserve the right to challenge Romney in the 2016 primary if he does not govern as a conservative.

Uh, no. We don’t have to support him, and I’m not going to. If the GOP doesn’t want to listen to my voice, they’re not getting my vote.

Besides, Romney can’t beat Obama — why vote for Obama-lite when Obama is already there?

If he does not give all 50 states to opt out of Obamacare by executive order during first week in office, he is toast in 2016.

This is like the arguement we heard for supporting RINO McCain in 2008. We were told if we just held our noses and voted for McCain then next time the GOP would run a real conservative candidate. Look where that got us.

“So if Romney wins the primary, we need to support him.”

This is where your car careened off the road, went through the guard rail and plummeted down the cliff...

No sale.

Anyone that believes a RINO is gonna unseat the first real black President is smoking wacky tobaccy.

Especially when the RINO signature piece is being the Godfather of Obamacare. IF SCOTUS shoots down the unconstitutional Obamacare (they better), the Left who have been working for 50 years to get to this point, will rally round Zero with a fervor not heretofore seen.

While a Romney win is unlikely at best, there would be no primary challenger in 4 years if he did.

The GOP is like an abusive drunken husband.

Next time will be different, I promise.

No...Although I agree to challenge him I tend to look toward the mid terms. Get Romney in, start a third party, a real conservative party, and pump the legislature full of conservative legislators. Let em try and get around that.

Much, much easier to fund and run a campaign for the senate and house than for president. Problem I see is, how many would run? Are there any with the nads to do it? I suspect they like to bitch and moan instead of putting their money where their mouth is.

We already have a record of how Romney governs. Why would he be different as President.

He's a RINO loser & why should Conservatives pretend he's not.

If Romney wins the primary, I hope he will not run again in 2016 after the beating he will take in November.

Yup. But many of us will not submit like battered wives who continually bail out their abusive husbands.

I, for one, will not subMitt.

Getting ahead of ourselves here? Doesn’t he first have to a) win the nomination and b) defeat Obama before we can plan an opposition candidate for 2016?

In the highly unlikely event that Romney actually wins, there will be no viable GOP candidate running against him in 2016.

If Romney takes the nod..Obmama/Romneycare is a lock from the administrative branch. If you are so h@ll bent on voting for a socialist and socialized medicine..why don't you just vote for Obama? The leftist have control of both Romney and Obama..so why not save conservatives a truckload of cash and just hand the keys back to the current occupant/tool?

I'm not giving sKerry Romney one thin dime, let alone a vote. All my time and money will go down ticket to the conservative candidates for the Hill. Neither Romney nor Obama will get rid of fascist O'deathcare, I'm not voting for either one of them...period.

We already have a record of how Romney governs. Why would he be different as President.

If I may seriously answer this question, he might govern differently as president because a) America is not Massachussetts and b) he might have one or both congressional houses in Republican hands instead of Democrat hands.

I'm not under any illusion that Romney would be far less conservative than I would like but there *is* a possibility that he would govern more conservatively than he did in Massachussetts because he has a different constituency and a different congress.
