A February survey of Washington voters by The Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice indicates that voters there are much less likely to favor increased spending on K-12 education once they know how much money their state already spends.
Almost one-fifth (19%) of survey participants correctly identified their states per-student funding level: According to the survey, Washington spent $9,688 per student in 2008-9. About half (46%) thought the state spent $8,000 or less.

I don't want to sound like my old man walked to school 5 miles a day up hill both ways or use to get a dime to go to the dance on Friday night a nickle to get in and a nickle for a coke.
But I do know it was way less than today and by far a better education than today.
