Our girl, Jennifer Lawrence, says "Screw PETA" over her scene in a movie. I like her style.

Yes we butcher the English language down here! My husband’s favorite: Montague.... you would think “mon tuh gue” but it is pronounced Mon tayguh (long A) lol

A+++ his budget gets ZERO votes in Congress but MSM never mentions that.

ANd he has the nerve to blame Republicans for the lack of bi-partisanship in Congress. What a hoot! It seems to me that the Congress is plenty bi-partisan. They turned down Obama's "Budget" in a truly bi-partisan effort.

I lived in TX for nearly 10 years (happily) and they butcher the Spanish language too. I always supected it was on purpose. God Bless their little pea-pickin' hearts! I always shuddered when I heard San Phil'-i-pee (for San Fay-li-pay') [San Felipe] and San Juh'-sin-tuh (for San Ha-seen'-toh) [San Jacinto]. Since there is a certain resentment prevalent in TX (a residual of The Alamo), there is an underlying resistence to pronouncing Spanish words correctly.

I think it depends on where you grew up-my hispanic ancestors fought for Texas independence. There are several rather distinct accents/dialects in Texas-many of us who come from families native for a couple hundred years in this and the rest of S. Texas speak the Texmex Spanish dialect as a second language, so we don’t garble the Spanish language. We also have a drawl, but we don’t drag out the vowel sounds as much as other areas. Plus you have a lot of military here-almost accentless.

East Texas is more ole’ southern and has the drawl, Dallas area always sounds like the people are talking through their nasal passages, etc. Lots of those folks also call those delicious nuts “pee-kans”, and that spiked metal used for livestock fencing is called “bob wahr” Where did y’all live?

The ‘rats just can’t stop being
An intransigent bunch of fools-
They won’t vote on a budget but
Keep howling about the rules

Those rules were okay for Clinton-
He didn’t really seem to care
But he was an absolute master
At covering his fiscal derriere

By contrast, Obama’s syncophants
Leave him gasping like a trout
Tossed into a fishing boat
With his agenda hanging out

And they just showed some more of those damning employee-made videos shown at the GSA luxury conference-about green s*** and using Obama’s name-that is going to leave a mark...

That’s Anglicization, not butchering.

Don’t watch this from work, or if the “f” word offends you.

When I was stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. in 1970, I made the mistake of pronouncing the name of the city there as if the middle syllable were “locks.” A local resident informed me that it was pronounced “Bi-lucks-ey.” I complained, “When is an “o” ever pronounced as if it were a “u”? He said, “What about Mont-gum-ery.” I gave up.

You may be right but it is more likely just the local dialect was formed by a very quickly changing population at the time Texas was growing. Consider that most people had to migrate here from Kentucky and Alabama, etc..... lots of different regional versions of words. Most of those folks would not have had any connection to the Alamo or have any background speaking spanish. We also had a large influx of folks from Germany.

Bee soup sounds better. Probably in a honey sauce.
